Ch.10: But Not Friends

I was thinking about all the stupid things I blurted out, they weren't supposed to know! I sat up and grabbed my backpack, I got jacks hoodie out and put it on. I cleaned my face and I leaned back on my bed frame and I stared at my bed.

They already know too much, whats the point in hiding or not trusting them now. They can tell anyone about it and things could get worse so now I have to trust them to not say anything.

"Hey Y/N?" Evan called

"What..?" I asked

"What- you don't have to answer but um? What does the x mean or why can you see it?" He asked

I thought about it and looked at my body mirror. I didn't have an x on my face...I looked at them but they had an x. I looked back at my bed and sighed.

"It's kind of like an anxiety disorder. The x cover's peoples faces and I don't really know how they look like till they come off...which is never...But the only people who don't have an x was jack, mark and my mom." I explained," Brock has a question mark though which is my mind is thinking of letting me try having a friend. The x's just mean that this person is not my friend or someone I can't trust."

I then looked at the guitar evan had gotten for me and suddenly saw an x fall and land near it. I looked at them an evan did't have the x anymore again.

"But when evan got me my guitar the x had fallen off and I had seen his face for the first time. That's why I was able to look at him sometimes or when we talked. But when he said...the thing earlier the x came back on his face an thats why I left. I thought that couldn't happen but when it did, it scared me cause I'm not sure if it did the same to jack or if it would do it to my mom or to mark." I said

"Wait can you see me right now or-"

"Yeah I can but I'm not sure if it'll come back." I said," But that guitar was the only reason it came off. I've been trying to get it for months."

"So this whole time you couldn't see the way we look at you or-"

"Not a single thing! You guys did just come out of the blue and immediately had a pack together so you can guess how hard it is to trust that." I said," Plus I knew you guys were fuckboys the moment I met lui an tyler."

"Stop calling us that! We aren't fuckboys!" Evan complained

"Yeah we just flirt with girls, thats literally it!" Tyler said

"Pretty girls." Smitty added

"You all must be blind then." I said and got up

"If your saying we're blind for flirting with you then you must be the blind one!" Evan said

"That doesn't make sense." I said

"Okay how about this, if we say some pickup lines and you freeze to them or blush then that person gets to take you to the dance." Tyler said

I grabbed my guitar and then sat on my bed.

"What does the dance have to do with this?" I asked

"Well you should expect us to be asking you!" Smitty said

"And you all aren't jealous of each other? Cause if yall like me so much then wouldn't you try to stop the other from having a chance." I said

"We-....We have a system for that??" Evan said obviously lying

"Sure you do." I replied

I moved to lean on my bed frame and messed with the tune a little.

"Dibs on first!" Tyler said
