Tanaka took off running towards Sugawara, who just about collapsed in front of him. Tanaka grabbed his arm draping it over his shoulder so Suga could use his body as support. He looked like he had just crawled out of depths of hell, his leg seemed messed up and he had blood covering his shirt, it wasn't his own. It took me a minute to configure my thoughts but once I did I joined the two who were waking this way. "Sugawara, what happened. Have you been scratched or bitten?" I asked. It felt like an insensitive thing to say but I wasn't willing to risk it. He shook his head and I let out a breath of relief. I looked down at Sugas arm which gripped Daichi's jacket so tightly that his knuckles were white. Worry over came me and I almost didn't want to ask the question. I took a breath but Tanaka beat me to it "Sugawara...where's Daichi?" He asked.
Tears immediately began to flow from Sugas eyes. It was enough of answer to me. We rushed Suga inside and sat him down. "Suga! How wa...." Hinata trailed off once he saw him. Kageyama starred silently. We all waited, waited for an explanation, to hear something, anything, about Daichi. Tanaka began addressing Sugas wound. We sat in silence for what felt like way too long before Sugawara finally spoke "He's dead...Daichis dead, He was eaten.." Hinata gasped and Kageyama flinched. It was obvious before Suga had admitted it that this was the case, but hearing it made it all too real. Emotion over came me and I was mad. I was really mad I wanted to yell "Why?! Why didn't you do anything? There must have been something you could've done! Why did you just run away!?" But once I saw Suga my anger slowly dissolved. His whole body trembled as he fought to hold back tears, He still hadn't let go of the jacket, he hadn't even made eye contact with any of us since he sat down.
Hinata was crying and Kageyama was doing his best to comfort him despite struggling to keep composer himself. I wanted to cry too. Daichi was the back bone of our group. He was strong and encouraging and was always able to maintain a positive attitude even in the midst of all this disaster. "I-I'm so...I'm sorry!" Suga cried putting his face in Daichis jacket. Tanaka wiped tears from his eyes and pried the jacket out of Sugas hands. Suga looked up at him "it was not your fault. You didn't do a single thing wrong." Tanaka said. It was blunt and stern but some how comforting. I understood what Suga was feeling all too well, it was the feeling I felt months ago with Yamaguchi. Despite that, I couldn't find any words of comfort. All I could think about was the fact that Daichi would know exactly what to say.
The room fell silent again until suddenly the door burst open causing everyone to direct their attention to it. It was Nishanoya, he was sweaty and out of breath, as if he had just sprinted five miles. "Guys, I need.. your help.." he said between breaths. We all knew what that meant, we paused our mourning and grabbed our weapons. Once everyone was armed Noya opened the door, there was a massive hoard of Zombies. Twenty five maybe even thirty of them were running towards our place. Tanaka and Noya ran out first, even though he was exhausted, Noya still fought hard. I followed behind them aiming my rifle at heads and shooting. Zombies were difficult to kill since, in a way, they're super human. It can take anywhere from one to five bullets to kill one depending on where you hit. Hinata and Kageyama teamed up. Hinata preferred close range attacks and used a machete to kill. Kageyama always made sure to have his back, shooting down any zombie that ran near them. As much as they argued and fought, they made a really great team.
Suga was skilled with a crossbow, he climbed on top of the building and shot. He never missed, and today, for good reason, he seemed a bit more aggressive. After fighting for a while the zombies all died. We caught our breaths, Tanaka looked to Noya who nodded knowing exactly what he was going to say "we need to get out of here, we gotta move to a different location" Tanaka admitted. No one disagreed and we headed inside. Nishanoya looked around, confusion and concern filled his expression "where's Daich-" Tanka cut him off by putting his hand on Noyas shoulder and shaking his head. Noyas expression morphed from confusion to sadness, you could pretty much hear the sound of his heart dropping "Damnit.." he whispered, his voice cracking a bit. Tanaka cleared his throat and clapped his hands, attempting to distract everyone from the grief filling the room "ok guys! We better start packing." He said as enthusiastically as he could.
