It was a fairly pretty night. The sky was clear and Aelia could see stars reflect in her fathers eyes as he talked. Her mother was sitting right next to him. She was nodding along to his words, all while keeping the same expressionless look on her face. Her father sighed.
"Me and your mother have discussed a few things and have come to a conclusion" He started, his normally soft gaze turning slightly worried. "We, the kingdom, needs to get stronger. We feared that we might not survive the winter. But then I got a letter from King Gabriel. You remember him, right? He came here last summer." Aelia nodded, fearing where this might go.
"Well, he brought up a good point. If two people in the royal family from different kingdoms get married, those kingdoms usually form a sort of alliance. He proposed that you and prince Cashel get married. It would benefit both kingdoms and-"
"WHAT?" Aelia interrupted him. "You- you want me to get married to Cashel?"
He sighed yet again. "Yes Aelia, that's what I'm suggesting."
"But, but..." She looked down into the table. "What about me? Don't I have any say in this?"
"I fear not, we have already made the arrangements, the wedding is this friday."
"But I don't even want to get married! I want to be free! How... Cashel's an asshole! Did you know he called Honey useless?" She clenched her fists under the table.
"Aelia... it's what's best for the kingdom."
"I don't care what's best for the kingdom!" Her voice was starting to grow even more frustrated and she had rose out of her chair. "Maybe if you considered what I want to do for once-"
"That's enough!" Her mother yelled. "You are getting married and that's final! This is not something we can back out of!" Aelia could feel herself tearing up as she pushed the chair away and ran out of the room. She could hear her father calling her name but she decided to ignore it.

She felt the confused stares of the castle staff as she ran through the halls, holding her dress up so that she wouldn't trip and fall. She eventually reached her room, locking the door and sitting down by her bed. Aelia could hear knocking on the door, most likely being a concerned staff member or someone her mother had sent. She scoffed, even when her own daughter was upset she wouldn't bother walking that far. The though almost made her laugh. In fact, it probably would have if she was in a better mood. She sighed heavily before pushing herself off the floor, changing into her night gown and laying down on her bed, quickly falling asleep.
