The walk back home was quiet, and Aelia's thoughts kept wandering back to the necklace at the shop. The necklace of wishes, she had called it. Could it be true? Aelia didn't want to belive it. The only way it could be true was if it was... No, it couldn't be. All magic had been wiped out a few years prior. "A disgrace to humanity" her grandfather had called it. The necklace was probably fake. But if it wasn't...
"That lady was kinda creepy, huh?" Cyrus' voice pulled her back to reality.
"Yeah" Honey agreed. "I don't think I've seen that shop before either, I wonder where it came from."
"Maybe we just didn't notice it in the shadows" Cyrus pondered. "Or maybe...just maybe..." Cyrus stopped himself mid sentance, and barked out a laugh. "Nevermind, that would be stupid." This peaked Aelia's interest.
"What were you gonna say?" she asked curiously.
"No, just... it's dumb, don't worry about it."
"No, seriously, tell us!" she laughed.
"Fine. I was thinking, like maybe it could be, you know, magic!" he did a little poof gesture with his hands and giggled. Aelia and Honey joined in with his laughter.
"Sure Cyrus, sure" Honey said inbetween laughs. "Because magic was not all terminated five years ago."
Cyrus looked slightly grumpy.
"It wasn't all! You know that too! You know, Thea says that some witches were only banished, and not actually killed." he stated, sounding very proud of himself. Honey rolled her eyes, pushing the gate of the castle garden open."Honey, Cyrus, Hey!" a voice rang out. Aelia turned her gaze of Cyrus towards the person who had called out. It was a familiar figure, standing tall with long, red hair braided into a low ponytail.
"Thea!" the girl turned her head towards her.
"Your magesty." Thea smiled. "Back already? I thought you were gonna stay out for the whole day.""Well we were, but then we found this creepy shop and Aelia kept insisting that we go into the store and so we did and Thea! It had such weird stuff. Like there was this box that had a heart in it and the owner was just so strange! Kept talking about destiny and walked up behind us all the time." Cyrus exclaimed. Thea laughed.
"I don't think I've seen a store like that." she said, looking slightly amused.
"I know, right?" Cyrus said, taking it as a sign that she agreed. "Don't tell anyone, but we think it might have been magic!"
"Correction, you think it might have been magic. Don't bring me and Aelia into this." Honey said in a bored voice. Thea laughed again.
"That sounds lovley Cy, but I have to leave now, got a lot of things to attend to." she turned around on her heel and hurried away into the castle. Cyrus looked a bit dissapointed that his sister hadn't agreed with him, but he'd probably get over it soon. Aelia chuckled quietly to herself before turning back to her friends.
"So, what do you want to do now?" she asked them, mostly to fill the silence.
"I don't know, maybe I'll go to the library and pick up a few books or something." Honey said, stretching her arms behind her head. Cyrus considered it for a moment, before shaking his head.
"I'm not coming with. I think I'd rather go sparring with some of the knights."
Aelia snorted, she had expected he'd say something like that.
"I- what?!" Cyrus asked her, his voice getting louder in the end.
"It's nothing! I think I'll go with Honey, you can scurry away now." Cyrus glared at her before waving and walking away from them. Honey and Aelia waved back before they started walking towards the castle library, easily falling into a comftorable silence.~~~~~~~~~~~⭐️⭐️~~~~~~~~~~~
Aelia didn't really know what she was looking for. Honey had gone off somewhere to look for something about... well Aelia couldn't really remember. Now she was sat in silence inbetween a two shelves, leaning her back on the wall behind her. Her mind drifted away toward the shop once again. The necklace of Aasha. The necklace of wishes. She furrowed her brows. Who even was Aasha? She suddenly got an idea. She rose from her feet and started walking around. She knew they had shelves with books about magic somewhere here. After looking for about 15 minutes she found the shelf, labled Sorcery. Underneath there was another lable, must not be used for guidance in practice. Aelia looked up at the books, grabbing a bunch and went towards the exit.
"I'm leaving!" she called out, immediatly recieving a chorus of hushes. She hurried through the halls up to her room, where she sat down to look through the books. She took out the first book, not bothering to look at the title and instead flipping straight to the register. She quickly read through it, and upon not finding anything about either Aasha or the necklace she put it away, opening up another book and doing the same. Finally, in the last of her books she found it. She flipped over to page 456 and started reading.
The necklace of Aasha, or the necklace of wishes, is said to be a very beautiful piece of jewelry created by one of the countries most powerful witches. Aasha was rumoured to yeild the power to grant any wish, and upon her death, decided to channel her power into a small gemstone. The gemtone was later put on a chain and named after the witch.
