"So you're telling me you shouted Frank's Channel out, and practically gushed about him-""I did not gush-" Gerard tried to interrupt, but Lindsey rolled her eyes and kept talking.
"-but you're too much of a chicken to tag him in the picture you posted of your painting on Instagram." She finished pointedly.
"Fuck you, he probably wouldn't even see it. It's not a big deal." Gerard responded with a wave of his hand.
He busied himself with stirring the pot of pasta he was currently cooking, hoping Lindsey would drop it. Gerard and Lindsey always have lunch together on Sunday's. It's a great way to start the week on a positive note, and spend time together before they get sucked back in to the stress of the work week. But right now he was wishing they had canceled (okay not really but god, why'd he have to pick such an annoying yet loveable best friend) because she wouldn't stop pestering him about actually talking to Frank.
"Gee, come on. You've been going on and on about this dude since you watched his videos. Why don't you just message him and tell him you're into his work?" Lindsey said with a sigh.
Gerard knows she has a point, it's only been a few days since he first watched Frank's videos, and he may or may not have been obsessing over him since. But, he was too nervous to talk to him. What if he said something stupid? What if frank hated the painting and thought Gerard was trying to use him so he could get a following?
"If I talk to him, the art could be ruined. I'm not risking it." Gerard shrugged, dismissing the idea.
Logically he knows he's being irrational. That it's not as big of a deal as he's making it out to be. But he's in love with Frank's art. What if Gerard talks to him and he's a stuck up asshole? It'll not only ruin how he feels about Frank's art, it'll also make him dislike the painting he did inspired by Frank. It's better to admire the art from afar, than to destroy the magic of it all by getting to know the creator. Frank's covers have brought him such a strong since of comfort, and he really wasn't ready to give that up if things went to shit.
Gerard finished putting the sauce over the pasta, after he drained the water, and started to set the table.
Lindsey sighed, letting the conversation drop while she grabbed the drinks from the fridge.
"Thanks, Linds." Gerard said with a small smile as she handed him a Diet Coke.
Lindsey smiled back as they sat down to eat. The pair dove in to conversations about upcoming projects for this week.
"I've been working on this huge painting for about 2 weeks now. And because it's for some corporate asshole, that shit is so fucking boring." Lindsey whined dramatically.
"Oh my god, those are the worst type of commissions. They never give you something fun or interesting! They just want you to paint fucking squiggly lines or something that looks like a toddler designed it." Gerard groaned in agreement.
Gerard used to be a commission based artist like Lindsey, before he started his internship at Dark Horse Comics. From time to time he'll sell some paintings for a little extra cash if he needs to buy something for someone's birthday or if it's a holiday. But, for the most part he lives pretty comfortably off his income.
