The six of us walked down the street towards the train station. I walked behind everyone else on as I dug through my bag to take out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. I lit the cigarette, which caught Kunikida's attention as he turned to look at me.
"What?" I asked him.
"Since when do you smoke?" He asked me.
"It's nothing new. It's also a way to activate my ability,"
"You know it's bad for you, right?" He asked me.
"Yes Kunikida, I'm littlertly older than you. Why are you lecturing me?" I asked him, and he just rolled his eyes.
"Yea Kunikida chill were about to search for missing kids in less than two hours, I'd wanna take the edge off to," Dazai said we all kept talking about small things untill we goto the train station. I went up to the ticket booth when I told her our destination she slightly froze for a second.
"Really?"
"Yes," I was extremely confused about why she was questioning me.
"Alright," She said and then started typing aggressively on her system. She made a few corrections on the tickets and then handed them to me. "The train that leaves here doesn't go that far in the mountains, so you'll have to get off and get on a small train at this stop,"
"Thank you," I said to her as she handed me the tickets. I walked back to the group and gave them all their tickets, and told them when to get off so we're all on the same page. "Hopefully, this town has somewhere we can stay," I stated. "If not, then we'll have to stay a town over,"
"Fukazawa said he spoke to somebody from the town who will let us stay at in their home," Ranpo said," I think he mentioned that it used to be an orphanage,"
"Oh,"
"That's not scary at all," Atsushi said. Our train arrived right on time, and we got on quickly, and all squeezed into one of the carts and closed the door.
"So when we get there, the first thing we're going to do is interview the parents of these three, we'll split up to get it done quicker them come back together, So how should we split up?" I asked all of them. We all looked at each other, thinking about who would work best together. "Kunikida, what do you think?" I asked him since I knew he'd have a logical response.
"Well, honestly, it wouldn't matter too much along as, no offense, Kenji and Atsushi aren't left together, i dont think you guys want to do the questioning," He said.
"Yea, reather not," Kenji said and slightly laughed. "I don't mind. I'm just here, to do what I'm told," He then smiled.
"Oh Kenji," I said and slightly laughed at him.
"Perfect, you come with me then," Kunikida said.
"So do you two want to pair up then?" I asked Dazai and Atsushi.
"Yea, I suppose,"Dazai said sarcastically, which earned an eye roll from Atsushi.
"Will you two be fine on your own?"Kunikida asked, referring to me and ranpo.
"We'll be fine," I stated, "hopefully we don't get there too late,"
"Do we have any leads or information about the disappearances," Kunikida asked. i looked at Ranpo, who talked to Fukazawa longer than I did, so he should have some more insight into the investigation.
"Fukazawa said that they have a sheriff who had been looking into it for a while. He says that he had some leads, but when questioned about, he couldn't seem to give much information," Ranpo said. We all talked about the possibilities for the rest of the train ride to fill the time, but the longer the train ride took, the more the silence grew.
