Ronnie's POV

Juliet was here with Andy now. Another woman showed up. She introduced herself as Kate. I had never met her but I knew she was A.J's best friend and pretty much won her trial. She sat next to me and bounced her leg nervously.

We had been waiting for almost five hours. A few nurses came to check on us but brought no new updates. I was starting to get a really bad feeling. They had called me back to take a quick DNA test. They never said what for.

"Is that- her blood?" Kate asked from beside me. She eyed my shirt all over.

I looked down at myself. I looked like I had just walked off of a horror movie set. Unfortunately, this was not a movie. This was real.

"Yeah." I muttered.

"Oh, god." She put her head in her hands.

After a few more hours of waiting, A.J's mom and brother arrived at the hospital. We were all taken to a private waiting room as more people showed up. Zach slumped in the chair next to me. We didn't talk. We just sat in silence. I'm not even sure if there was anything to talk about.

"I need another nurse in here!" Someone shouted. A man in scrubs popped his head out of the room that they took her away to. A woman in scrubs followed him into the room. The door slammed shut.

My heart rate quickened. Everyone was starting to grow tense after that. What could possibly be happening in there?

A doctor came out of the room and into where we were seated. I stood up to address him.

"Are you the father?" He asked.

"What?"

"Come with me. Mrs. Meyer, you too." He ordered.

A.J's mother and I followed the doctor into a different room. He sat us down at a table. He sat across from us.

"Okay.." he breathed out. "There's no easy way to put this."

I held my breath, bracing myself for the news. "We lost her pulse twice. She's in a medically induced coma right now. She's lost too much blood to carry the baby any longer."

I was at a loss for words. "Baby?!"

"Yes. Miss Meyers is seven months pregnant. Now, here's the situation. Since she has lost so much blood, she only has enough to support one life. DNA suggests that it is your child, Mr. Radke."

"I'm so lost." I shook my head. "What are you saying?"

"You have to choose, Ronnie." Her mother spoke up.

I looked at her and to the doctor in disbelief.

"We don't have much time. The longer she's under, the more likely we won't be able to find her pulse again if we lose it. I know it's a difficult decision, but you have to choose. Her life or your unborn child's. The baby will still be delivered if you pick her to live, but there is no guarantee it will survive."

"Fuck." I muttered. "What the fuck."

"Ronnie, if you don't choose, I will."

"We need an answer, Mr. Radke."

My head was spinning. I felt like I was going to pass out. I looked at the small paper with my initials rubbed into it. I slammed my fists on the table. "Her! Save her!"

The doctor quickly got up and rushed out of the room. I broke down into tears as A.J's mother hugged me.
