CHAPTER 3
~Alaska~
I avoid the soccer field and gym as much as possible. Nothing would hurt more than running into Tyler, especially after I saw him with his new girlfriend.
I guess I was too late and some fake blonde girl took my spot.
I walk the halls alone. A few people greet me and I smile back and greet back politely. I don't want to seem rude, and I could try and socialize with other people. I haven't properly talked to anyone besides Maya for the past week. I haven't seen Tyler at all, and I'm glad I haven't. I'm scared I'm going to run into him and have to see him with his girlfriend. That would hurt even more than when I saw him in the courtyard. He would try and talk to me, and ask how things are going. I would say good but behind the lie everything is bad, because I no longer have Tyler.
I never knew how lucky I was too have Tyler. I only realized when he moved on from me.
I look at my phone, checking the time. It's only eleven o'clock, my next class ins't until one. I decide to go back to my room and drop my books off there, and visit my mother.
I pull up in the driveway, turning off my car and stepping out of it, shutting the door behind me. Good thing I bought a car after the road trip, otherwise walking here would've killed me.
The house looks different. It has been repainted, the front door has been replaced. Most of Marley's toys are scattered out on the grass.
I miss this place.
But it feels weird coming back here without Tyler. I left this place not wanting to leave Tyler and him loving me, now I arrive without him, and no longer in his heart.
I walk up to the front door and I knock loudly.
I wait a few seconds and then the door opens, my mother is standing there.
"Hi mum." I say.
"Alaska! Hi!" My mother says surprised. She embraces me in a tight warm hug.
"Don't you have class now?" She asks.
"No I don't. I have a class at one o'clock." I say stepping inside. I look around the house, It has changed.
Paintings are up on the walls. A large chandelier is hanging from the ceiling. The marble floors look polished and I see Marley.
Marley is frantically running towards me. I kneel down and hug Marley.
"Hey boy! I missed you." I say, tightly hugging Marley. Marley begins barking and jumping around at me happily.
My mother laughs. "He missed you. He would always bee sitting in your room, or walking around with toys in his mouth, like he was waiting for you to come downstairs and play with him."
"Well out of all the things I missed the most it was definitely Marley." I say, partly joking.
My mother laughs, "Yeah, I didn't miss you very much. The boys did. Alex always asked about you, and I found Josh and Will always on your instagram and facebook. They were dying to know when you were getting back."
"Do you want to come back for dinner?" My mother offers. "I'm cooking lasagna tonight." She says and I can't resist. Her lasagna is amazing.
"I would love too. Do you want me to come around six?" I ask.
"Yes and bring Maya." My mother says. "Oh I forgot to ask you, how's Tyler? Have you spoken to him?"
I hesitate at the question. I have no idea how I'm going to explain this to her. I don't want to see her face drop at what I'm going to say. I can't stand seeing her upset.
"Alaska, tell me." She demands, not harshly but enough to make me tell her.
"He has a girlfriend okay..... We barely spoke over the last year and a half and he is over me. I still have feelings for him, but he obviously dosen't feel the same way about me." I say and my mother's face falls. "I didn't know what to expect. A part of me wanted him to still love me, but another part wanted him to just be happy. So I guess he is with his fake blonde, bimbo girlfriend." I say. I don't know why I share things like this with my mother, but I remember she told me once she went through heartbreak when she was my age, so it makes me feel comfortable talking to her about this.
"Alaska I'm so sorry honey." She says hugging me tightly. "He dosen't know what he left behind. I bet deep down he regrets letting you go." She says softly.
"Well, I hope deep down he still loves me." I say.
I pull up in the parking lot in front of my dorm. I have fifteen minutes until my next class starts. I step out my car, closing the door behind me and lock it. I walk into the corridor and into my dorm. Maya isn't in here, she must be out going to her next class. I grab my books for my literature class. Even thought I wanted to just do photography, I chose a few other classes. It won't kill me studying a little more.
I lock my dorm room behind me and walk out into the courtyard, which can lead me to five different areas of campus. I walk straight, to my literature class. Students are buzzing around everywhere. Everyone is friendly. I smile and greet a group of girls and they smile and greet back nicely.
Maybe I will make a few new friends here. Maybe even meet a few other guys. I've seen a few attractive guys here but none of them really caught my attention. None of them were even close to Tyler. I guess that's what is keeping me from talking to other guys and dating. Because none of them can compare to Tyler.
I make it just in time for my class.
As I walk into the room, the professor looks very familiar.
As he turns around, my stomach drops. It's my father.
"Brian." I say shocked as anger fills through me. He knows I was taking classes here, and now he is here to ruin my life.
~Maya~
I sit out on the grass alone biting into a pink apple. The sunlight is hitting my back, making me feel warm and comfortable. I check my phone and realize I don't have anymore classes for the rest of the day.
"Maya? Is that you?" I hear a familiar voice say behind me. I turn around, and see Cameron West. A good friend from the road trip.
"Cameron? Hi!" I say getting up off from the grass and hugging him.
"Haven't seen you in a few months. " Cameron says.
"Yeah, are you here at Westpark now?" I ask.
"Yeah, I'm studying a few things but I'm also playing soccer." Cameron says. "Actually I met one of the guys, his name is Tyler, he says he knows you and Alaska."
"Yeah, him and Alaska have history." I say blankly.
"Yeah I noticed by the way he said her name. He said it too carefully." Cameron says. "Hey I was wondering if you would want to hang out sometime? I know we shared a few intimate moments out when you were on your road trip and I felt bad for not ever trying to contact you again." Cameron says.
"I would love too hang out with you anytime. You have my number right?" I ask and Cameron shakes his head.
I grab out my phone and read out my number to him. He types it into his phone under a new contact.
"Thanks. I will text you later. I have to get to class now. It was good seeing you Maya." Cameron says giving me one of his sexy looks that I can't resist.
"Good seeing you Cameron." I say smiling back, trying not to let me knees buckle underneath me.
Cameron says bye and walks away, looking back at me one more time.
