CHAPTER 5
***
~Tyler~
I roll over to the other side of my bed as my alarm rings loudly. Too loudly. I cover my ears as the ringing continues.
It's too early to get out of bed. My eyes burn as I open them and I feel completely exhausted. My muscles ache from last nights late night soccer training.
I finally build the strength to shut off my alarm and check my phone. One text message from Cameron.
**Our game is changed to tonight. Coach told us.**
I sigh, and reply with a simple okay. I shut my phone off and sit up from my bed. I look around the room and I see my door open and sunlight pouring from the kitchen. I step out of bed and touch the cold marble floor beneath me.
"Tyler?" I hear a familiar voice call out.
Alaska?
I walk out of my bedroom, rubbing my eyes as they try to adjust to the bright morning sunlight.
To my disappointment it's not Alaska standing in the kitchen, it's Mia. I bite my lip. Why would I ever think that Alaska would be here? We haven't talked for almost a year and she is avoiding me, why am I always thinking about her?
"Good morning gorgeous." Mia greets me, kissing me lightly on the lips. I kiss her back, tasting her strawberry lip gloss.
"Good morning Mia. I didn't even hear you come in." I say.
"I came in and you were practically dead, I was even playing music at one stage and you didn't even move." Mia says giggling. "Well, I've made some pancakes. Chocolate chip, your favourite."
"Great, I'm starving." I say, smiling at Mia and running my thumb over her left cheekbone fined with makeup.
~Alaska~
"Alaska get out of bed fat ass! It's Friday! We both have class mid-day so we can go do something." Maya says, grabbing my blanket and shifting it off of me.
"Okay, okay I'm getting up." I whine, rubbing my eyes and yawning.
"It's nine o'clock.By the time you get ready it will be time to go to class." Maya says complaining. Even at the start of the day Maya always has something to complain about.
"I will be ready in fifteen minutes. Can I know where you want to go?" I ask Maya.
"Somewhere in town. This campus is driving me crazy." Maya says running her hands through her hair.
Maya parks her car in the parking lot directly in front of the small cafè with many people inside. Way too many for breakfast. I follow Maya inside and we grab a small table by the window.
We sit down and order our meals, my stomach growing hungrier by the second.
"So, when is the date with Cameron happening?" I question Maya.
"Tomorrow." Maya says, sounding excited. "I'm really excited for some odd reason. Something exciting is finally happening."
I roll my eyes. "I'm sure what happened with you two over our road trip was exciting enough." I say and Maya slaps my arm lightly.
"Alaska, we are in public. Don't start making comments about... Things." Maya demands. I smile trying to stop myself from laughing and I nod.
Maya begins to talk to me about her classes and we get so lost in our conversation that I don't realize Tyler walk in with his tall, blonde bimbo girlfriend.
I almost drop my glass of water.
"Oh my god." I say.
Maya gives me a weird look and then follows my gaze, looking directly at Tyler and his girlfriend.
"Who is that bimbo?" Maya whispers to me.
I shrug.
"Maya, they are coming this way, just talk to me and I will just look at my phone." I say looking for any escape to pretend I don't see them walk past us.
I grab my phone out and I begin to scroll through instagram while Maya talks to me and pretends to focus on the menu.
I feel his presence creeping closer.
"Alaska? Maya?" I hear him say.
Shit, I'm busted. I feel my face flush as I look up at him and we make direct eye contact, I feel my body go numb. I forgot he had that kind of effect on me.
"Tyler what a surprise!" Maya says standing up and shaking his hand. I stand up slowly and stare directly at him. His girlfriend looks at me, with a plain look of envy and hatred. She obviously knows who I am.
"Hi, Alaska." Tyler says warmly, holding out his hand for me to shake.
I hesitate for a second but I just shake his hand, his warm hand feeling soft against mine.
"Hi, Tyler." I say, feeling my emotions stir inside of me. I have no idea how to react to the way he is looking at me. I stare at his lips and imagine them softy against mine, the way his hands felt of me....
"This is Mia, my girlfriend." Tyler says introducing Mia, the blonde bimbo next to him he calls his girlfriend.
For a second I feel like punching her in the face, but I decide otherwise. Besides, I would have to pay to fix her fake nose, it would be easy to break but it would cost a fortune to fix again.
'Hi, Alaska! I've heard so much about you. Pleasure to meet you." She says, sweetly but in a fake tone.
"Nice to meet you, Mia." I say forcing my fakest smile.
Tyler looks at me and then back at her, and I can just tell he knows that we both hate eachother, and we just met.
