She paled. "W-What? Lorenzo! Don't make these decisions on your own! If you have a problem you talk to us, don't do this on your own! If you have a problem, we'll sort it out together. As a family."
"Mo-oooom! I'm not-"
His mother looked at me, her blonde hair in contrast with Lorry's darkness. "I'm very sorry, my son has given you trouble. How much does he owe you?"
"Mom, she-"
"We know he has a few... eh... problems, but please be kind to him! What's your name?"
"Mom, can't you see she's -"
"I'm Dr. Donaldson," I smiled, shaking her hand. "Dr. Elaine Donaldson. He's been no trouble, everything is going according to schedule. You have a very kind son, ma'am. I'm glad I can finally meet the rest of his family."
"Vlad, you-"
"Yes, when we do these dress-up sessions, we like to give each other names. I have become Vladimir, and this is Suzy." I pointed to Lorenzo in the dress. "Really, I can't wait to speak to you all about his, eh, wellfare and condition."
"Mom she-"
"I say Doctor, you look so young!"
"Carl, you've got to sto-"
"Oh, why thank you." I patted my face. "A good diet, good exercise - and oh the surgeons these days are absoluetly wonderful." Her face was so into my story, and she put a hand to her own cheek. "Oh but you have to do your research, or you'll end up with scars."
"My, please do come in, and we can talk somewhat more comfortably about Lorenzo." His mother clocked the look on his face and blushed. "Oh, should I be calling him Suzy?"
"Please don't," Lorenzo pleaded, turning begging eyes to his mother.
"Now, Suzy, you know this all part of the process," I shook my head. "It's good for you to be someone else for a while. Let's see how you cope with your mother as Suzy."
He sent me a death glare and I had to struggle not to grin.
"Ms. Vrocklehurst, I'm sorry if we gave you a shock," I apologised.
"No problem at all," she smiled. "Would you like a cup of tea?"
"I'd love one," I replied.
"I'm going to get out of this dress," Lorenzo ground out, storming past me. The dress sort of spoiled the effect.
He closed the back door behind him and his mother exploded into giggles.
"Oh, oh, oh... oh I'm sorry Doctor, he's just... ha ha ha! I never thought he'd really... haha! You see, Gemma always says he does weird things, but I never believed her, and he looked like that! Ha, ha, ha!"
Soooo Lorry does strange things, huh? Something to investigate.
I smiled. "It's quite alright, ma'am, I see such things daily. But perhaps, it's important to not let him know himself? He's a boy, so he's tough, and Lorenzo is tougher than most, but he does have feelings." Oh my something, this was so much fun. "We should try and understand him. We can't let him feel awkward, just because he's different. Oh, Carl, come in here hon. Carl's my little cousin, he helps me tape some of my... classes, I like to call them, for later inspection. It also helps the patients deal with fears."
"Oh, hello Carl. My, how far apart in age are you?"
"Oh Carl's twenty," I lied smoothly. "Nine years younger than me," I added with a sigh.
