Destruction. That's all you could really say for the battle between the heroes and villains. A town destroyed and casualties on both sides from the battle. You didn't really care about those on the villain side, but the people on the heroes side. You lost friends, even friends that ended up injured and a few that have lost a limp. However, the students had taken part in the battle, too.
You didn't like what you're feeling. That hopeless fear that's clinging to you and threatening to drag you underneath. You can't shake it off or even remove it from you. You didn't like being unsure of what's going to happen with the heroes who are injured because some of them are severely injured like Midoriya, Miruko, Bakugou, Midnight, and Hawks.
You stare at the bandaged wrapped Hawks in the hospital bed, bandage wrappings around his head, the left side of his face covered in bandage wrappings and one even crosses over his nose. He has his eyes closed and your eyes had watched his chest, but only to see him inhale and exhale shallowly. You didn't like it. You didn't like seeing him like this. You could see burn scarring just a little bit beneath the bandages and you already knew who had caused those burns.
You're glad that he's not dead. That's one thing that you're very grateful for. However, you noticed that he's missing his wings. You aren't sure what happened to him, but you desperately hope that his wings will come back. If not for his sake, but the Commission because you are aware he plays a huge role for them. You aren't sure how much power they possibly have, but you can only hope that they won't do anything to Hawks while he's in the hospital.
You held Naofumi close to you, your son sitting in your lap and gazing at his father. He isn't crying, but just unusually quiet for someone who likes to coo and giggle. You want Hawks to open his eyes, to see his stupid smirk and reassure you that he's okay or even joke with you. You don't want to leave his side, but you know you have to so you can return home with Naofumi because he can't stay overnight at the hospital.
The hospital that Hawks is currently staying in is busy with other heroes that had gotten injured. You could hear the chatter outside of the room and you can only pray that the others will be well in the end.
"Please come back to us, Keigo," you whispered, grabbing his bandaged hand. You squeezed it, hoping he would squeeze back. "Please, baby. We'll be waiting for you."
When he didn't squeeze your hand back, you let out a defeated sigh and removed your hand from his. You lean back in your seat, holding Naofumi closer to you and you curled above him. You shake your head, the tears rolling down your cheeks as you wish that Hawks is okay or even awake. You had hoped that he would have woken up even though it's been a day since he'd been in the hospital, but you aren't sure how long it'll take for him to wake up.
There's a knock on the door and you looked up, seeing the door open to reveal your best friend. You give her a smile, wiping your tears with your fingers and Naofumi didn't even coo or laugh when his eyes land on her. You stood up, placing Naofumi right beside Hawks and you watch as Naofumi doesn't move, his eyes just darting everywhere on Hawks's face. You figured that Naofumi won't try to crawl off the hospital bed so you walked towards your best friend.
She engulfed you into her arms and you sobbed, crying into her shoulder as the two of you hold each other tight. Her eyes are watching Naofumi so he doesn't roll or crawl off the bed, but she continues to hold you. She rubs your back as you cry in her arms and she let out a sniffle herself, her own eyes watering at the sight and sound of you crying to her while your boyfriend is on the hospital bed.
"Do you still feel like you should have been a part of that battle?" She asked, pulling away to gaze into your eyes.
"If it were me on that bed instead of him, then yes," you started, letting out a sniffle and a shaky sigh. "I would do anything to take his pain away."
