Long chapter
I'm looking out of Miley's car window. Watching the night settle down. The streetlights give a romantic view. "I'm surprised about your outfit, girl." Miley giggles wickedly. "Why?" I question her with a frown.
"Because you never wear something this girly. Do I need to know something?" She winks at me, trying to gain as much information about my entirely different clothing style. "Mom saw it in the store. I tried it on and I felt good in it." I explain to her with a small smile, thinking back at my emotional mother and our time together.
She guided me through the complete day and never tried to push me to wear something I wasn't comfortable in. The only thing she wanted me to wear was the stupid belt. So I'm wearing it for my mom because she paid for it. I don't think it gives a more wow effect to the entire outfit, but she insisted on wearing it with pride, so I do what I've been told.
"The belt is freaking awesome. Your mom has good taste, but I'm a little jealous you didn't ask me to go with you. I could have helped you too, you know." Miley says a little agitated. "Miles, it was a mother-daughter day. You know I do little with my parents." I explain to her a little annoyed.
"Yeah, got the message. I understand." She responds in a silent tone. I know Miley when she isn't fully convinced, but I don't need to apologize for a day out with my mother. I thought she would understand that, but I guess not. I hope her mood will change at the party or I'll be gone. I don't need more drama in my life, and not her criticism.
The car ride went silent as I predicted. Finally, we arrive at Tom Carity's house. People were gathering in the garden, drinking and laughing like normal teens do when they party. Miley parks the car beside the sidewalk across from the house. She eyes me for a second and smiles at me. "Ready?" She questions me.
"Yes," I respond quickly before climbing out of the car. This is it. The faster we get in, the faster we can go home. I walk beside Miley, who's now sauntering like an old lady. "Come on." I usher her to walk a little faster.
We walk past a few people. Some of them look up but quickly return their attention elsewhere. A few familiar faces came into view, but most of them were older than I was. They are doing their last year and soon graduate. What I would do to be in their footsteps. Miley looks at me when she spots Tom Carity walking straight toward us. "Hey Miley, happy you came." He smiles warmly.
"Happy to be here." She admits with a big smile on her face. "Who's your friend?" He asks while eyeing me with an appreciative smile. "This is Sofia, my best friend." She introduces me. "Oh, are you the one that spilled her drinks on my best friend?" He smiles wickedly. "Yes, unfortunately, I was that girl," I explain to him while rolling my eyes. Of course, they will always recognize me as that stupid, clumsy girl.
"Michael is coming tonight, so try to keep your drinks with you this time." He explains to me with a sheepish grin, trying his best to be the funny guy. Of course, Miley is the first one to giggle at his response. "Haha, funny." I shrug.
"You don't need to worry about that," I tell him firmly. "Alright then." He smiles before offering us a drink. "I want a beer," Miley responds quickly. "Do you have some water?" I ask him, friendly.
"Water, yeah, but wouldn't that be a little dangerous in your hands?" He joked again. "You're so funny, Tom." Miley giggles again. God Miley, keep it dry, please. "It will be if you keep joking about it," I tell him boldly. Tom makes his way to the kitchen, still laughing about his joke, I presume.
"He's cute, but Michael is so much cuter." Miley gushes. She looks around her. Desperately trying to spot him. "I'm going to try today. I'll walk to him and try to make a conversation, that's my goal for today." She informs me with a big, confident smile. I flash her a thoughtful smile, not knowing what to say about that information. If she wants to keep craving him, then I will not tell her otherwise.
