(Metal) Claws of Destiny

Important notes before the story starts

Hello, let me just introduce myself briefly- I go by the username of Elend on this account so you're welcome to refer to me by that name if you would like to address anything.

I do not live in America, I have never been to New York or America in general, so my source materials for describing the scenery will be mostly from the Spider Man 2 movie (I have not seen No Way Home yet so no spoilers please, but once I do see it which will probably be sometime during writing this fic I will add a note, still tho some people may have not seen it either so please keep spoilers to the minimum) or the general idea that I have in my mind of the way New York looks like/works, so please no hate if i get something generally wrong, I live in the UK so you can imagine how different it is here from there.

The reader is going to be AFAB- but I will try to use gender neutral pronouns whenever there are pronouns used, so that anyone may enjoy the story.

I will not describe the length of the readers hair. I personally have short hair but the amount of times I have read an 'x reader' fanfic which will say something like "put her long hair into a bun" is just sad, because I cannot relate to it, so I will not specify the length, (but the reader is not bald.)

The reader is going to be referred to as (Y/N)

The reader is a spiderman variant, meaning it is like an AU where Peter Parker doesn't exist, instead you take on the "Spiderman" role, but I will make the description as general as possible because I want you guys to imagine yourselves in this story to make it more personal so, imagine whatever suit you want with whatever colour etc.

The reader is however, kind of a nerd but they are 18+ in this story, and also sort of a scientist? when they are not being the spider-person (you'll see where I'm going with this)- so basically spider-person undercover but a scientist irl, hope that makes sense.

This story will include an original character or maybe more than one I'm not sure yet, made up completely by me, as it is mostly not going to be a story following the plot of any of the movies apart from maybe a few "main events" from Spider Man 2 with my own twist added to them; my intention however is for the plot of it to be mostly original, but to include characters I do not own (Doc Ock etc).

In this particular "AU" , Rosie did not exist, meaning Otto is not married.

English is my third language, but I passed my english language GCSE with a 9, english lit with an 8, so rest assured, I will try to use good terminology and lovely phrases which would add character to this story. I suppose this is a sort of writing practice too, I am currently studying English so it'll contribute to the expansion of my vocabulary :) My grammar isn't bad but sometimes slip ups happen, so if you ever feel like correcting me I am fine with that. Constructive criticism is always welcome.

If my English teacher ever sees this I will be mortified :)))))

Lastly, I'm writing this for myself to be honest, because I became a Doc Ock simp recently and I tend to hyperfixate on a character I particularly like, but I've not seen many fics with him so I thought I'd contribute and write one myself. I am a sucker for villains and he is an amazing villain who deserves the world. Writing fanfiction also is a stress relief for me and a bit of a help to my mental health.

I will try to update regularly, like maybe once a month, maybe even quicker sometimes, but I do have a lot of schoolwork and there will be times where I'll have to prioritise getting ready for mock exams or exams/tests in general, or I can get writers block like any other author in existence, so do not be too surprised if a chapter is a day or maybe even a week late. I'll try to write ahead for those kinds of situations but I cannot promise anything, so bare with me if it happens.

This fic will also be published on Ao3, under the account of Elend_Arrowdown because why not. 

I'll post like 1 or 2 chapters at first (at once), but then will update regularly like I have mentioned in the paragraph above.

Ok that's all, I might attach short notes at the ends of chapters if there's anything worth telling you guys about, but anyway I hope you enjoy this story.
