Beautiful Blue Wings

Don't leave me...

Levi's POV
"Hanji?" I asked. Her whole body was covered in blood. I could tell she could barely move except for one of her arms that was feeling the grass around her. Her eyes were closed and she was unconscious. I run to grab her body and hold her close.

No POV
Hanji opens her eyes and awakens to Levi pumping her chest and pressing fabric onto her wounds to stop the blood. Hanji is shocked when she sees Levi's face.

"Huh? Levi are you crying?" Hanji akses.

Levi looks at Hanji and is happy that she is awake then snaps back to reality and keeps pressing onto her wound.

"Don't be stupid, I have no reason to cry idiot glasses" Levi didn't want to admit it but he in fact was crying, crying from fear, the fear that Hanji would leave him.

"I fired a flare"

"Levi"

"The reinforcements will be here soon"

"Levi"

"You'll have to rest these injuries of yours when we get back"

"Levi"

"We'll fight against the Titans again when your well"

"Levi!" Hanji said a little louder reaching for his hand with her unbroken arm.

"Hanji, whats wrong?" Levi askes, grabbing her hand and squeazing it as if she would disappear into thin air even though he knew exactly what was wrong.
Hanji turns to look at the blue sky.
"If you saw a blue butterfly would you be happy enough that you would smile for me?"

"Hanji what are you talking about?" Levi asked confused not knowing where she got that idea.

"I remember our first date. You took me to a coffee shop with that bright blue piano, and you started playing my favourite song. I remember that when I started singing along, you smiled at me thinking that I didn't notice... But I did. It was the most beaitiful smile Levi."

"Hanji..." Levi began to say but started to cry.
Hanji could feel her eyes start to close...

"No, no, no shitty glasses, look at me your going to be fine you hear!? I'll bring you back with me and we'll take care of you, ok?" Levi said panicking. "Oi, shorty you know that's not possible. My bones are all broken. I can't even move and inch, but you have to get out of here before the Titans reach you." Hanji said calmly as if nothing was wrong.
"Don't you talk like that, shitty glasses, I won't leave your side!" Levi yelled. "it's ok Hanji, I'llpickyouupandwewillgobacktothewalltogether!" Levi said in one breath. "Levi, Levi, look at me..." Hanji said placing her hand on his cheek. "...I'm going to be alright" she said with a smile and tear ran down her face.

"You promised me..." Levi said in a whisper. "You promised me you would be by my side going inside the wall...teasing me like always!" Levi yells and closes his eyes. "I can't let you break that promise shitty glasses, not today..." Levi says in a whisper, like he was reassuring himself more than her, as more tears streamed down his face. "Oi shorty, I haven't breaken that promise just yet so don't worry."

"I love you Hanji, I love you so much." Levi said through sobs. "Wow Levi you actually used my real name." Hanji said trying to laugh but ended up choking on her blood. "I love you too Levi and don't you forget that."

Hanji stops and looks at the sky, she thinks she sees a yellow butterfly but doesn't mention it because she was afraid it wasn't really there."Have you ever seen a blue butterfly?" Hanji asked Levi, with the same excitement she had 20 years ago. "No Hanji, I haven't" Levi said with a soft voice. "Well, when I die, I'll make a butterfly land right on your hand before you go in the wall. It will have beautiful blue wings and white spots like snowflakes." Hanji said with sparkle in her eyes. "Hanji you know that's not possible" Levi said. "Well I'll make it possible, and I'll even flap my wings three times for you to know its me" Hanji said with a serious tone and giggled. "I'd like that very much Hanji" Levi said.

They both looked at the sunset. "Isn't it beautiful?" Hanji askes. "It's so rare for someone to look at something so beautiful like this" she says. "No it's not" Levi says, and looks at Hanji. Hanji looks at him with a confused expression on her face. "I look at you everyday" Levi says and Hanji smiles. "You looked at me everyday" she corrects him. "No, I look at you everyday and I will keep looking at you everyday, I will think of you everyday and talk to you every night." "You always know what to say Levi, you always knew how to and me happy"

Hanji places her unbroken arm on the dirt beside her and begins to draw something. Levi just looks at her admiring her concentrated face looking at her hand. When Hanji is done she removes her arm from the spot and looks back at Levi.

"Look Levi it's a butterfly"

Levi looks at the ground, where she drew and sees a beautiful drawing of a butterfly with dots, and for the first time in a long time, Levi smiles.

"There's that smile" Hanji says and she could feel her body shut down. Levi snaps back to reality and grabs her hand and feels all the life and warmth being taken from her body.

"NO HANJI DONT DIE! I DONT WANT YOU TO DIE! DONT LEAVE ME HANJI PLEASE DONT DIE!HANJI!!!! HANJI!!!" Levi yells until he could taste his own blood from his throat. "Please come back" he whispers to himself as he places his head on the curve of her neck. "Please don't leave me"
