1, forget the number and the name that once had a heart by it's
side remember the voice mail won't sound like a healing touch because
putting your happiness on one person gives the same results as putting
a train on a broken track.
2, change the locks hide the key and leave the door closed when
the dark comes knocking asking to come back in because sometimes
mouths can speak lies so you forget your next play and the demons at
the door think your fear is a game.
3, know that flinching from touch like your skin is paper
thin will only help the fire to catch and burn you alive and holding
breath when the air hurts will only let smoke build and oxygen to die
leaving a scream in your throat and burnt out lungs.
4, stop leaving your pain inside your bones and hiding it
there to crumble and decay because false hope and hidden hurt rooted
into flimsy pieces of marrow will only work until the day they start
to get too heavy and the white begins to crack.
5, don't hide glassy eyes or wet cheeks with drawn on dimples
across your face because holding onto the tsunami in the corner of an
eye can only work until the dames break and the waves crashing down
threaten to swallow you whole.
6, start spewing your emotions at 3am to the wind the stars and
the moon because although you cannot yet trust people with voices who
can spill your sins holding it in is like letting toxic into your
heart and poison into your veins.
7, let yourself shatter and fall apart and turn your limbs
into shards that will cut and hurt it helps to learn who will only
touch your broken body with pinched finger tips and who will fix you
with their bear and now blood soaked hands.
8, remember that holding yourself with duct tape and glue and
digging your nails into your skin and ‘forgetting’ about your night
terrors will only turn you from skin and bones to an empty shell to
particles in the sky and a slab on the ground.
