Life really throws the most absurd situations at you. One day you're waking up in your bed, going to work, meeting up with friends and family like a normal human being. The next thing you know is that you're suddenly a devil with three brothers, each more complicated than the next, not to mention that your eldest brother happens to be the emperor of hell, ruler of all evil spirits.

My name is Helen, daughter to the former devil, sister to the current king and the princess of all hell.

Hilarious, isn't it?

Me? A princess?

If one grew up watching all Disney princess films as I did, I'm pretty sure they would have had this sweet dream of becoming a princess too...except that child wasn't me. Sure the films did present great entertainment but the mere fact that almost every film had some man saving the princess aka the damsel in distress most definitely did not sit well with me. What's with the Prince charming on a white horse anyway?

The only thought that ever came into my mind when I watched those films wasn't "Oh I wish that I had a prince charming who would come riding on a white horse and fighting evil witches or dragons to save me."

My version of thought was that I would work hard, maybe not perfect myself in every way but at least prove myself efficient and independent so that never in a lifetime will I need someone else to sacrifice their efforts or life just to save me. I would work hard so that if such a situation was ever to arise I would be able to save myself without anyone's and especially some "Prince charming's" help.

I was rubbing my eyes hoping that the room surrounding me would dissolve and this would all be some twisted dream that my mind had shaped.

What have I gotten myself into?

My mind wandered back to Viola, to my parents.

There was a knock at the door.

Christian stood leaning against my door, looking more awake, his hair messy and still drenched while drops of water deliberately slid down his striking cheekbones. He swiftly swept his eyes across the empty room and then back at me. His golden eyes seemed warm enough but still intimidating and distant.

"Dominic has some task to attend to." He began walking inside. "So I'll be walking you through the process."

I looked at him. My brother. I never had an older sibling before and this felt weird.

It was pretty much obvious that all three of them were attractive in every angle of human perspective. Their faces would be found plastered across magazines. Their personalities on the other hand seemed completely complicated to me. Like a puzzle, I couldn't quite solve. They were most certainly mannered as all Royals were said to be but they were also commanding. As if their word was law...which in my case it was.

I felt nervous around these men. They were all so intimidating.

Dominic was cold, distant and severe. He had this certain aura of power that surrounded him. I think the word king certainly suited the guy.

Christian spoke the least I reckon, otherwise, he's probably standing back and observing but out of them all, he was the most friendly one for sure.

Aiden I believe as I've already said before screamed the word 'trouble'. He was always playful and he certainly had quite a temper. Something told me that he's not gonna make things easy for me here.

I had brothers.

I actually had brothers.

I still can't wrap my head around all of this.

Devils existed.

And I am one.

My entire family were.

Everything they said turned out to be true but then why did it feel as though they were hiding something? That they aren't telling me something. Something important.

"What process?" I asked confused.

"Your duties as a princess of course."

Great.

I took in a deep breath trying to assemble my jumbled thoughts.

"I don't think I'm-"

"Let me guess." Christian interrupted me slumping down the chair. "Fit to be a princess?"

The movies most definitely got the charming prince character wrong.

"Yes." I agreed not making any comment about his seating position. "I don't belong here."

"Is that so?"

I snapped my neck to my right as Aiden agilely bounded into the balcony.

What with these people and the windows? I mean honestly, the doors were invented for a reason!

Christian glanced at his younger brother before dragging his hair back with his fingers.

"Did you forget that you were born here?" Aiden didn't bother asking for permission as he strode right in, pulled up a chair without even using his hands and seated himself most comfortably.

"I thought you had some work assigned," Christian remarked severely to which Aiden waved his hand dismissively.

"I wouldn't dare miss my sister's first day back." He shot me a wink which I returned with a haughty glare. "It's funny how you think you don't belong here when you were never really meant to enter the human world little girl."

"Then why was I there in the first place?"

I looked at the two men in front of me who hardly gave any sort of reaction to my question and simply like Dominic masked their face with a look of utter indifference.

Runs in the family I see...

"Did you ask Dominic?" Christian straightened up in his seat.

"I don't think he wanted to talk about it," I whispered feeling nervous.

"Then it's best that you don't know," Aiden answered evenly.

"I-" My protest dies down in my throat when another figure walks in.

"Finally," Christian grumbled standing up to greet the newcomer. "You're late."

I on other hand must have looked like a clown with my wide eyes and hanging mouth.

"Be happy that I even came at such short notice, your highness."

What in the actual hell?

"So the rumours are true then, huh?" By exterior, the individual retained a feminine physique as well as facial features. With red eyes that seemed alert and calculating, she had fitting red hair, a sharp nose and high cheekbones, this woman was rather beautiful. However, the most extraordinary thing about her wasn't her beauty and grace but the mere fact that she had two black, insanely thick and perfectly curved horns jutting out of her head.

In the human world as children, we were always given picture reference for every identity, creature and deities the tales depicted within.

The woman reminded me of only one identity I've grown up hearing tales about.

A demoness.

The red eyes assessed me in one sweeping motion while I stood there amazed, with no idea how to react.

Fortunately, the demoness didn't embarrass me any further. She gave me a low bow as a symbol of respect which greatly confused me and straightened up with a sly smile.

"It's an honour to have you back princess."

I hope you all like this new chapter and apologies for the late update. I have been contemplating how I want to have my main character bond with her brothers and I have a plan in mind which will be shown in the coming chapters. I would love to hear your opinions in the comments and if you like the chapter please be kind enough to leave a vote :)
