Jinora's POV:

I sit outside near the lake just outside of the house.  I meditate.  I sense several energies from below the lake.  That can't be right.  I project myself to the bottom of the lake.

I look around.  Everything is covered in water.  Must be the spirits.  I suddenly feel Kai's energy.  I stop projecting.

I listen to Kai's footsteps.  "Hello there Kai."  He laughs.  "How do you know that I'm here?"  "Loud footsteps and I could feel your spirit."  I open my eyes.  He walks over and sits on the bank with me.

He looks at me. "Do your spirit powers still work?"  I nod.  "Yes, they do."  "Wow that's cool."  I laugh. "Yeah. So, uh does the Dai Li still like sneak around?" He shakes his head. "Nope I mean Li kind of looks like a lurker, but I promise I only take him with me because he's one of my best friends." I laugh. "That's okay.  Was it easy for you to trust the Dai Li?" Kai chuckles. "Yeah, it took me a while to even be able to look at the Dai Li after what happened to me.  My mentor noticed and he made them change into more er, practical uniforms than the old robes.  Something like the Kyoshi Warriors wear.  It at least made it easier for me to look at them." He chuckles.

I look at him.  "I'm so sorry for what they put you through, Kai."  "Jinora, it wasn't your fault at all.  I chose to stay behind so that you and the other airbenders were able to get away.  I stayed because I knew how important the airbenders were to you and your family."  He hugs me.  "I promise it was not your fault."   I smile.  We stop hugging.

He smiles.  "You look breathtaking, Jinora."  "Thank you, Kai.  You look very handsome this evening.  I hear footsteps.

Kai turns around and so do I.  My father stands there looking at us.  "Dinner is ready you two."  Kai nods.  He gets up.  He holds his hand down and I take it.

He helps me up.  We look at my father.  "Tenzin, we'll be there trust us."  My father goes red for a split second then he strokes his beard.  "I trust you."  He turns around.  "Please do not make me regret my decision."  He starts to walk off.

We wait a while until my father is out of earshot.  Kai smiles.  "I just want to stay with you for a while." I smile back at him. "Me too." We hold hands and we walk to the house together.

We go inside. Korra's family is with us again tonight. I see Korra glance over at Asami and she just smiles. My father looks at us. "It is about time. Kai, you can sit with me." Kai nods. "Yes sir." Kai sits down beside my father.

An open seat is beside of Korra and Asami. I squeeze between them. It's pretty far from Kai, probably so our father could give him a talk. I watch the two as they engage in a conversation. Kai's sitting there calmly while my father seems to be interrogating him.

I eat my food. Korra nudges me. "Think Tenzin is giving Kai, The Talk?" I shrug. "I don't know. It could be politics." Korra looks at Asami for her opinion.

Asami nods. "I agree, even though Tenzin is very thorough when it comes to his kids, Korra, Kai is under investigation and Tenzin will be at his hearing tomorrow." I nod. "Yeah, uh aren't you two testifying too?" Asami nods. "Yep. We are." We eat.

Asami and Korra leave with their kids after we finish. We move into the living room. Kai and I sit together.

My mother looks at Kai. "So, Kai, you are having to stand trial tomorrow?" He nods. "Yes ma'am. It was breaking the law, but for a good cause." My mother nods. "I know, Rohan told me. He looks up to you." My mother rubs my little brother's back as he sat beside her. Kai laughs. "I can tell. Tenzin was telling me all about Rohan." I chuckle.

My mother looks at us. She nods. "Yes, Ikki seems to like you too. She complains about you just a little bit, but who doesn't complain about their boss?" Kai laughs. "Yeah I know how much Ikki complains."  Ikki grumbles and we laugh.

Kai looks at his watch. "Oh, uh I better leave. Jinora you accidentally left your jacket in my car would you like to come outside with me?" I get up. "Sure." We leave.

He goes out to his car. I smile at him. "Another excuse?" He chuckles and nods. I kiss his cheek. He smiles. "I'll see you tomorrow." He nods. "Alright. Hopefully I will still keep my job." We smiles at me and gets into his car.
