Darryl's pov

Zak ran, as fast as he could out of the gates. I didn't really know what was happening. How could he just... escape like that? Steal from me? Lie to me? Deep down though, something felt right. I felt good.

Ping! went the message on my phone. I took it out of my pocket, and ignored the chaos forming around me. My face fell when I saw who the highlighted message was from- Technoblade. I grimly unlocked my phone, to read what I knew would be taunts.

Techno the pig

My dear friend,  Darryl. It has come to my attention that a prisoner by the name of 'Zak' has escaped the premises on your watch. How unfortunate. My first order is to catch him. You should know what follows next. You are already aware of what the consequences will be of allowing his escape, and should you fail to apprehend him and... dispose of him, I'm afraid the consequences will become dire. I needn't remind you what dire means. Thank you in advance, your good friend, Techno.

I scowled at the way Technoblade addressed me as friend. Friends hang out and laugh, do stupid stuff together, and have each others backs, not threaten to kill each other. And not only did Techno want me to catch Zak, he wanted Zak dead. I knew all too well what 'dispose' in Technoblade's terms meant, and the 'dire consequences' too. But of course I wouldn't kill Zak, I couldn't if I tried. Zak hung out with me, laughed with me, did stupid stuff with me, and I feel as if Zak has my back. Zak is my friend. Despite my cheery attitude, I don't really have many friends, so I know the value of them.

"Sir? Are you coming?" Called a distant voice. "Sir?" Came the voice again. It took a while to realise the voice was referring to me.

"Oh yeah, coming!" I said whilst jogging towards the helicopter. I'm guessing it was getting dispatched to catch Zak. I climbed in slow as I could, knowing it would buy Zak more time. Sure, I would've caught Zak and brought him back, but Techno would hurt him, or, even worse, make me hurt him, so catching the escapist was out of the equation.

Once again, the blades whirred up, and we were above the prison, in the fresh night sky. The freezing wind nipped at my face, so cold it felt like ice. I looked out and down across the city, full of brightly coloured neon lights, buzzing with people. It almost felt wrong for such a joyful sight to exist at this moment in time. The search lights scoured the area bellow, not missing a single corner. There were a few other helicopters on the search too, most with trainee piolets. Why was Zak so important to the police force? He was maximum security to be fair, but no one ever told me why, so I'm really clueless.

Suddenly the helicopter took a sharp right, almost causing my to fall off my seat. Thanks to the light , I could just make out a dark figure running down a narrow alleyway bellow. To my disappointment, the pilot took out a walkie-talkie and tuned in to the static buzz of electricity and announced "Helicopter 7 in pursuit, I repeat helicopter 7 in pursuit", and that's when I knew the figure was Zak. It took all my will not to shout out a warning to Zak, guide him through the darkness, but I had to remain composed, after all, he was probably already aware that seven or eight helicopters were hot on his tail. There were now a few helicopters in front of us, waiting for any moment the could trap Zak like a mouse in a cage. It went on like this for a while, before Zak entered a large circular clearing only to find the helicopters surrounding him.

"Get down with your hands up!" Blistered a loud voice through a megaphone. It was exactly like a crime scene out of a movie, Zak slowly knelt on the floor, barely visible tears streaming down his face. Whilst all the helicopters were in the air, one landed. Shocked, I stared at it, obviously it was mega important, the inside looked absolutely massive! And were those cushioned seats I saw? Guard after guard came pouring out, it was unthinkable to imagine such a large number of people sat in here. There was a figure still in there though, banging on the windows in a desperate manner, probably one of Technoblade's torturees. Then at long last, when everyone was out...
