Zak's pov

My heavy eyes slowly opened, clouded from what must have happened before. In a lying down position, I couldn't see exactly where I am. I tried to sit up, but I'm immediately overcome by agonising pain. "Argh," I tried to scream, but it came out more like a weak grunt.

"Oh my goodness you're awake!" A familiar, kind voice shouted across the room. "Out the way, E- excuse, passing through!" Said the same voice, making it's way to wherever I was through what I'm assuming was a crowd. "Oh my goodness Zak, are you ok?" The voice was all I needed to know who it was.

"Yeah, I think so," I barely managed to say.

"Good, do you think you could stand up?" The warden Darryl said.

"I don't think so," I replied, still aching all over.

"Oh, you must be hurt pretty bad then huh?" Sympathized the warden. He looked at me, despair radiating off his verdant eyes. "I hope asking you some questions won't bother you too much?". Truth be told, I didn't really want to talk to anyone right now, but mine and a6d's plan depended on it.

"Sure, ask away" I croaked.

"Are you sure you're ok with this right now? I could always do it another time if you are not up for it..." Whispered Darryl, like he was talking to a child. He must have heard my voice break.

"No, Let's get it out of the way," I tell him, trying to make my voice sound steadier this time. I think Darryl got the memo, and nodded his head kindly, grabbed the bar on my portable hospital-like bed, and started pushing me out of the room. As I was still lying down, I couldn't see much, except the occasional nurse whizzing past, or prisoner to be questioned.

"Ok, we're here Zak!" Darryl announced. "Could you maybe, at least try to sit up?" He asked. I wasn't really ready to move, but how else was I supposed to get they keys? So I sucked it in, and told Darryl,

"Sure, let me just try!" Knowing full well this was not optional. It was for escape. I slowly lay my hands on the soft bedsheets, ready to push myself up into a sitting position. It wasn't pleasant, to say the least. Half my hands were still numb, the other was searing with pain. Then, it was over, as quickly as I had started.

"You good?" Darryl asked, making sure to put my needs before his as a policeman. I smiled at that.

"Yeah, as long as you're around!" I say, just voicing my thoughts. Less than a second later, there I was trying to explain to a sniggering Darryl what I meant by that. "Of course I'm also good when you're not around haha-" I nervously laugh. The inevitable blush appeared on my cheeks, making me look like a childish school girl.

"You look a mess, silly muffin," giggled Darryl. He looked good when he laughed. His use of the word muffin gave a contagious grin to anyone, me included. Darryl looked at my grin, and just started laughing harder. Before I knew it, We were both choking and flailing for air, Darryl almost on the ground, and me hitting the side of the bed in an attempt to breathe at least a little. I had to look away to calm down, and Darryl did the same. I turned back to face him and couldn't help but burst out laughing again. We both must have looked like absolute idiots, I'm glad no one else was there, or else we would've been sent back to first grade, that's for sure. I still had the overwhelming urge to die laughing whenever Darryl and I made eye contact, but we needed to go somewhere with this questioning eventually, and I'm pretty sure Darryl doesn't have all day.

"You seem better," Said Darryl, as if that wasn't obvious, and we hadn't just collapsed in a bundle of giggles. "Let's begin."

All of a sudden, Darryl's face turned solemn, and he grabbed a clipboard from thin air. " So, your going to answer these questions for me, ok?" It wasn't a question though. It was a statement, an order, if you will. He flipped some pages through the clipboard, till he reached a paper, and straightened it down. Serious Darryl scares me...
