The remainder of your stay was rather uneventful. Aside from the occasional requirement of manual labor, your stay was pretty easy. Zofia only needed your help a handful of times. Most of the Germans, especially in the situation you found yourself in, already spoke decent enough English to not just explain their findings, but also make generalized chatter with her too.
While Zofia carried her team on her back, you stayed under the radar chatting with the rest of the officers. You spent most of your time with Blitz however, the most charismatic of the bunch. His beaming personality and warm sense of humor was comforting. It was a good defensive mechanism against the horrors he'd likely seen. You didn't spend a whole lot of time with him on the base, so getting to know I'm here was the perfect distraction.
You kept a close eye on the news, where you found most of your understanding of German came to use. Thankfully, it didn't seem like there was anything going on that was too strange. Of course, the intel you were getting from your headquarters was much more detailed and caught up than whatever the news anchors were talking about. No matter, you remained steadfast. You always had a pistol on your side, no matter where you were or who was with you.
Security was tight. Everyone knew who on their break and what they were doing. Everyone got stuck doing routine patrols and watches. You, yourself, became accustomed to the silence of night as it was mostly you who was paired with some other poor sap who got called for the night watch.
All in all however, this more felt like you were on leave than anything else. It was mostly Zofia who did the digging. Blitz did just fine too, but he was already rotating back to the HQ for further problems you weren't involved in. There was no point keeping everyone updated on the latest black op, it just put everyone else under more danger and the brass knew that already.
After about a week or so, you were finally set to leave. The remaining computers left to check would be left for the German government to handle for themselves. When it was time to leave, Zofia seemed to be in a rush. Even though she hid her panic well, you could tell something was clearly chewing on her brain - you just didn't know when was the appropriate time to ask what it was. You weren't equal and Zofia already was hard on you as it was; there was no need to give her even more ammunition. If she wasn't talking about it, it was probably personal, which scared you since it more than likely involved her sister. You had no privacy with her while on the field, so the moment had to wait for when you were back in England at the Hereford base. While you trailed her, she threw off bits and pieces of her armor and handed off her firearms to the closest person with open hands.
She leaves the airstrip and rushes through the barracks. You continued to follow her until she entered a more official building - you hesitated, you didn't go into this building often. That said, this place was better than the others, more tech-y and modern. Most of the intel that was handed off to the soldiers came from this place. It didn't have too many staff members however, even in here you didn't catch her alone! She was going faster now and now you started to fall behind!!
You couldn't let that happen. You quickened your pace and chased her all the way to Six's office, where she just nearly cut you off by closing the door. Your eyes met just as she was about to close. For the first time, for maybe anyone in a long time, you saw her face light up in surprise. There was silent discussion between the two of you, she knew that you were apart from this issue as much as she was, even if she didn't like it. Both parties had to be involved.
Six looked at you before she looked at Zofia and then exhaled. "I thought it was only going to be you, Zofia."
Zofia looked at you. "I've decided to inform him of Ela's situation. I know they have extensive history from Iraq, as well as other past ops. He's caught up on the latest." She widened her eyes at you for a split second. You can't believe she's lying for you.
