"Yeah, and that's why I smile
It's been a while
Since every day and everything has
Felt this right
And now you turn it all around
And suddenly you're all I need"
The dementor let out an inhuman shriek, dropping Victoire to the snow as a wispy creature attacked it. "Miss Weasley, Miss Bennett! Get behind me!" Professor Longbottom shouted, gesturing for the girls to come towards him. "Miss Parkinson, Mister Wood, Mister Crabbe!" He called to the other dazed-looking students who'd nearly been kissed, staring in terror at the dementors. The rest of the class was standing uncertainly around him.
Victoire scrambled through the snow, pulling Lia to her feet before bolting for the Professor. "How can we help?" She shouted over the dementors' screams.
"Take the others back to the castle, Victoire! It's safer there, Minerva will have gotten rid of the other dementors by now! Go!" He cried. Victoire grabbed Katherine's arm with her free hand, Lia's clamped tightly in the other. "Stay together!" Professor Longbottom called over his shoulder to the group of terrified sixteen-year-olds who were already racing across the snowy hills towards the castle.
Headmistress McGonagall was waiting at the gates to lead the students inside. "Is that all of you, then?" She asked worriedly, quietly counting them off.
"Yes, Headmistress, but Professor Longbottom's still out there! And Professor Hagrid was knocked unconscious!" Victoire explained frantically, gesturing wildly at the ongoing scene by the forest. McGonagall nodded to Professor Flitwick, who immediately made his way past the gates.
"All will be well, Miss Weasley. If you could just--" The Headmistress began, but stopped in her tracks as a body collided with Victoire's.
"Vic, Vic, oh my God, are you alright? I saw the dementor trying to kiss you, and I thought--" Teddy rambled, his voice full of worry as he hugged Victoire. "Merlin, I thought you were dead, Vic," He finished, closing his eyes as he pressed his cheek against her hair.
Victoire smiled slightly as she pulled back enough to look at him. "Yes, I'm alive, Teddy. You don't have to worry." Teddy shook his head, preparing to speak before he was cut off.
"As I was saying, Miss Weasley, If you could lead your classmates to the Great Hall, seeing as you are the only prefect among you, it would be most helpful." Professor McGonagall said sternly, eyeing Teddy and Victoire with a look of disapproval.

It had been almost a week since the dementor attack, and Teddy still couldn't get the image of Victoire's soul being nearly destroyed out of his mind. He'd been standing at the gates with a group of other seventh-years who'd just returned from their free period-- which he'd spent in the woods having a snowball fight with Victoire-- when it'd happened. They dementors had been raining down on the school, too, but he'd hardly noticed.
Teddy had been staring out towards the forest where Professor Hagrid's class had erupted into chaos. The half-giant had been knocked unconscious, and the dementors were in the process of sucking out the souls of six students. Teddy hadn't even realized he'd started screaming until Professor Longbottom had collided with him, screaming at him to get to the great hall where the rest of the student body was in lockdown. He'd refused to go until Professor Slughorn had physically dragged him away.
Teddy dragged his thoughts back to the present. Currently, he was laying in the middle of the Hufflepuff common room, attempting to study for his NEWTS but not having much success. "Mate, what are you doing?" Will asked lazily, rolling off of the couch. "Keep reading it out loud, it's the only way I can avoid actual studying," He explained as he stretched his arms.
