"Finally, I'm crossing the threshold
From the ordinary world
To the reveal of my heart
Undoubtedly, that will for certain
Take the dead out of the sea"

"Victoire? What are you doing here?" Teddy Lupin asked, his voice full of shock as the partially-Veela girl entered the classroom in which he'd been waiting for Hagrid. "I thought you'd never gotten detention before?"
Victoire shrugged, sitting down on the Professor's desk. "First time for everything. What are you doing here?"
"I broke about 1/4 of the school rules this week," Teddy explained, coming over to sit next to her. "But you still haven't told me what you did. I'm assuming it was something small like talking in class? I can't imagine you breaking any bigger rules than that."
"Actually I assaulted a teacher." She said, her face serious but a hint of panic seeping into her voice. Teddy's eyebrows shot up as he scanned her eyes for any trace of a lie. "Don't look at me like that! I had a good reason!" Victoire protested, shaking her head at the boy's incredulous expression
"And that would be...?"
"He made some derogatory remarks about Werewolves. So when he walked by my desk and said something along the lines of, 'Oh, and just look at Victoire's poor father Bill, grievously scarred by an unprovoked attack from a common werewolf', I stood up and punched him in the face," Explained Victoire defensively, brushing a stray strand of hair out of her eyes. "I told you I had a good reason," She remarked at the expression on the older boy's face. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Oh... Nothing."
Victoire scoffed at his blatant brushing off of her question. "No way. You've gotta answer."
Teddy sighed, smiling slightly at her insistence. "Well it just reminded me of the time that a teacher made some demeaning comments about Veela, and I got into a fistfight with him." He said, his eyes sparkling at the memory.
Victoire's eyes went wide, before her face broke out into a smile. "Defending my honour, huh?" She grinned, causing Teddy to blush.
"Were you defending my father's?" The Hufflepuff asked, a sad smile emerging onto his face as the Ravenclaw nodded.
"I wasn't about to let anyone insult someone who helped to save us all, not to mention someone who thought he was beneath others because of the exact kind of comments the professor was making," Victoire said furiously. "He deserved what he got."
"This wasn't, by any chance, Professor Greengrass, was it?" The boy inquired, smiling gratefully at her words.
"Actually, I think it was him..." Victoire said, her voice thoughtful as a wicked glint came into her eyes. Their scheming, however, was cut short as Hagrid trudged into the room.
"Well, you mus' be the kids McGonagall told me abou'," He said, still standing in the doorframe. "C'mon, now," Hagrid continued, gesturing for them to follow him. Shooting a confused look at Teddy, Victoire stood up, trailing behind the half-giant as he navigated the darkening corridors of the school.
Victoire slowed her pace, stopping until Teddy reached her side. "And where, exactly, are we going? I thought they'd just make us write lines or whatever." She inquired as the unusually tall man led them from the castle. "Or is this, like, a 'break the rules and die' kind of situation?"
Teddy laughed quietly as they neared the Dark Forest. "If we're lucky, there won't be any death. It'll probably just be helping Hagrid with something."

"You kids run along now, ye'd best be gettin' back to school," Hagrid said once the two students had finished shoveling fertilizer across his garden. "And tell yer Uncle Harry I said 'ello."
Victoire and Teddy nodded in confirmation before turning back towards the magnificent castle. Several crows had landed along the path leading to the school. "One for sorrow, two for mirth, three for a wedding, four for a birth..." Victoire counted them off. "Five for silver, six for gold, seven for a secret never to be told, eight for a wish, nine for a kiss..." She continued to mutter, Teddy looking vaguely amused at her superstition. "Ten for a surprise you should be careful not to miss, eleven for health, twelve for wealth... Thirteen beware it's the devil himreself."
As she finished counting, the thirteen crows took off into the air, disappearing into the night. Victoire shivered, stepping closer to Teddy as they continued to walk. Teddy linked his arm through hers as he began to speak. "I was wondering, when we were on the Hogwarts Express you said that we weren't friends. When did we stop? We were best friends for a long time."
Victoire glanced up at him incredulously. "Yeah, yeah we were. And then you started at Hogwarts, and suddenly you had other friends. You basically cut me off. The first winter-break, you came home and I was thrilled. I ran out to see you, but you'd brought two boys with you, none of whom bothered to notice me. And so you followed their lead, and left me in the dirt." The blonde said angrily, unlinking her arm from the Hufflepuff's.
Teddy looked startled at her answer. "After that, you never responded to my owls, talked to me twice over the entire summer. You sat with me on the train to Hogwarts for my first year, and I thought maybe, just maybe, we'd be friends again, but then I was sorted into Ravenclaw -- and you went right back to ignoring me." Victoire continued, crossing her arms over her chest "And now here we are,"
Teddy was gaping at her, a mixture of surprise and regret conflicting across his face. "I had no idea," He said. "I'm so sorry, Victoire. I didn't even realize I was doing it."
"I got over it. I made my own friends, Teddy." The Ravenclaw said, running a hand through her hair as she spoke. They continued to walk in silence for several minutes, before the awkwardness became too much. "So, you and Julie Hawthorne, huh?" She asked, trying to diffuse the tension the previous conversation had caused.
The Hufflepuff boy grinned at her. "Once or twice. I like her, she's pretty cool."
"Well, I would think so, considering the fact the the Three Broomsticks' bathroom doesn't seem like the place to go if you don't like a girl," Victoire laughed, shaking her head at the memory.
"Fair enough," Teddy smirked, flinging an arm around her shoulder casually.
"Y'know, it's really a shame you didn't stick around," Victoire began, elbowing the older boy in the ribs. "My breathtaking personality has evolved so much in the past few years."
"Well, maybe I'll just have to get to know you again now, Vic," Teddy smiled, ruffling her hair.
"Don't ever touch my hair again, Edward,"
"Whatever you say, Vicky,"
