Green fields turned to dusty, rocky earth with red sand that seemed to glow in the moonlight. The air reeked of the blood of animals prayed on by the land. Dead trees and dry bones dotted the earth as far as the eye could see. Shadows lurked under every rock and behind every dead tree. The boy grew tired as he ran through this strange land. He tripped on one of the fallen branches and felled to the ground rolling in the dirt until he came to a stop. He frantically scanned the horizon for the girl. He thought he lost her. As the dust settled he spotted her silhouette growing smaller and smaller in the distance until it faded away. She was gone. His head dropped to the ground in defeat. He lost her.

A teardrop fell from his eyelid onto the red sand awakening the earth beneath him. The land prays on the weak here. Black charred branches shot out from deep within the ground lifting him high into the night sky as they pierced through every inch of his body. His blood flowed down the dark wood like rivers feeding the thirsty earth beneath him. His eyes widened and his mouth opened wide as pain shot through him. It was too painful for him the scream. As the life faded from his body and he drifted into unconsciousness blood flowed from his eyes like tears and from his mouth like drool.

The boy closed his eyes and with his last breath whispered... 'Hello girl.'
