Hermione couldn't stop staring at her ring that night. It was everything she had ever wanted, and the fact that it was from Draco made it ten times more perfect. She and him were resting on their new bed when Draco had fallen asleep. Hermione, however, could not bring herself to do the same. She was far too excited to let this night end so soon. Quietly, she unwrapped herself from Malfoy's arms and made her way towards the record player that resided on top of a large mahogany dresser. She flipped through the records in hopes of finding one that was at least slightly romantic. Unfortunately, the Malfoys seemed to have quite a dreary taste in music.
"Aha!" Hermione gasped, "Fly Me To The Moon,"
She slipped the record into the empty player and smiled with pure joy as a melody began to sound.
She spun around the room carelessly until a hand caught her. Draco had woken up, and though he still looked drowsy, he had mustered the strength to dance slowly with Hermione.
"I didn't mean to wake you," she whispered.
"I couldn't let you dance alone... especially not when my favourite song is playing."
"This is your favourite song?" Hermione asked, astonished.
"You sound awfully surprised," Draco raised an eyebrow.
"I never took you for a fan of romantic songs," Hermione said.
"Why's that?"
"Because you're Draco Malfoy."
"Hm, good point," Malfoy laughed and gave her a spin.
When the song ended, they both decided to go back to bed. They were exhausted.
Hermione fell asleep to the sound of Draco humming.
The next morning, Hermione awoke without Malfoy by her side. She wrapped the duvet around her for warmth before scampering downstairs to see where Draco had gone to. Her senses were instantly met with the smell of bacon as she made her way to the kitchen. Draco was putting their breakfast on a silver platter. He was also on the phone.
"Yes, everything's perfect," he said, winking at Hermione when he noticed her.
"Okay, bye. Love you too."
He exhaled deeply as he put the phone down and walked up to Hermione to kiss her.
"Who was that?" she asked.
"Mum and father. They're ecstatic about the engagement," Draco smiled.
"Glad to hear it," Hermione said as she gave his hand a squeeze.
"You should've stayed in bed, I was going to bring breakfast up to you," Malfoy said, surveying the duvet draped around Hermione.
"You should've told me that! I came all the way down the stairs for nothing," Hermione teased.
"My deepest apologies," Draco said, bowing dramatically.
"I'll forgive you... just this once," Hermione said before finding a seat at the table. Draco brought the platter over and kissed Hermione's head before sitting across from her.
"Cheers," he said, holding out a wine glass filled with orange juice.
"To the beginning of the most amazing chapter of my life," Hermione beamed, clinking her glass against his.
"The most amazing chapter of our lives," Malfoy corrected her.
