After the debacle in the bay, the commander of the base, admiral Charles was both surprised and some what amused though he did get a talking from SECNAV. With initial shock over and after some quick introductions CSG 11 was immediately deployed, they were given a relatively easy mission find a particular wo class carrier that has been harassing convoys headed to japan. Now I know the keen among you are wondering why does is take an entire CSG to deal with one abyssal carrier. Especially considering the US navy has been able to deal with Wo-class carriers before, unfortunately this wo-class is not normal, after some intelligence it seems this wo-class is quite experienced.  

First seen in the campaigns off the Italian coast  and seen fighting side by side many princesses, this Wo-class is anything  but normal having out smarted many allied carrier groups, and even defeated them on a few occasions. Apparently early in the war the abyssals dealt a serious defeat to the royal navy damaging over 100 royal navy aircraft and unfortunately several shipgirls were killed. The Wo currently being hunted was the flagship of the enemy force after that defeat the royal navy underwent a pursuit that would make what Bismarck endured in 1941 seem quite tame in comparison large amounts of resources, time, energy, and effort were spent trying to gain back not only the initiative but some moral. Though most the abyssals who fought that day were hunted down and killed like dogs on a highway in some instances in quite brutal ways the flagship always slipped from their grasp and in frustration the royal navy had to give up their hunt to deal with more pressing matters.  

"Nimitz you find the target yet" ask jones  

"no it seems this wo is keeping her distance and on top of that it seems she is using her supernatural capabilities as an abyssal to disrupt my sensors" 

"can't you we see throw fog" asked pickney 

"We can, but unfortunately this isn't normal fog apparently even as a being similar to a shipgirl my sensors are still somewhat affected though were all significantly better off then our older predecessors" 

With that said and done the CSG continues on with their mission, while that wo is being hunted down several hundred nautical miles to the north a convoy headed back to the states from japan was slowly making it's way to safety. It was made of 10 ships, 5 large container vessels, 2 bulk vessels, 1 reefer vessel, and 2 tanker vessels. With the abyssals disrupting global trade many nations have suffered great economic issues, many nations had to adapt and make a lot of  difficult decisions. Rationing was common particularly in countries with low access to high value goods, oil was also heavily rationed, certain goods had to be flown in at great expenses. Due to the difficult situation many advances and innovations had to be made and one of them the use of drone technology to help transfer goods at relatively low cost.

As the convoy made it's way to the states a few destroyers were provided as escort, however heavy losses, stretched resources, and the difficulties with coordinating and organizing massive navies of multiple nations while simultaneously providing the necessary forces required to allow enough supplies and resources is an extreme challenge. As the vessels moved along the destroyers consisting of a mix of Fubuki and Fletcher class destroyers with a few destroyers from other nations, the sky was clear, not a cloud in the sky, yet the atmosphere and the apprehension was high.  

And then a ever so slight but present noise was heard over the horizon, it slowly grew louder and louder until the unmistakable sound of aircraft became obvious. The destroyer escorts quickly formed themselves into a defensive formation, the dozen or so destroyers raised their guns to the sky as the first shapes appear from the west. As the enemy aircraft approach it became apparent that this wont be a easy fight nor a very pleasant one, moments later the sky is lit up by anti-air fire.
