The next day when the group woke up they immediately headed out of the garage, carrying two weapons of choice for each person. Anna carried her mother's scarf in her pack and elsa carried her former penguin in hers.
The group walked on for quite a while. Occasionally stopping to gain some rest. Zombies seemed very scarce but the group still kept on high alert. As they walked they passed dozens of abandoned cars.
Once they got to the highway the group hesitated.
"Oh my god...." whispered Anna. The roads held abandoned cars, motorcycles, and any other vehicles to think of, but the most scarring thing that they saw, what the litter of dead rotted bodies strewn across the roads. It smelled of a graveyard.
Rapunzel covered her mouth as tears welled in her eyes. Elsa gulped down a lump in her throat.
"We need to keep moving. Come on." She stated before slowly walking into the road. Anna ran after her and grabbed her hand.
"Elsa, no. We... we cannot handle this today. Look at our friends!" Anna explained as she gestured behind her to the group. Elsa complied and looked back to see their friends look on in horror. Merida hugged rapunzel close to her, hiccup was sat on the ground with his head in his hands, and Jack stood there, his eyes wide and his skin paler than usual.
Elsa nodded.
"Alright. We can stop for today. If I know this town, there should be a neighborhood a few meters back." Elsa agreed as she walked up to the group. "We can find a house or some sort of shelter. With any luck they could have food. Come on." Elsa walked back to the neighborhood with the group following behind her.
Just like elsa had said, a few meters back there was a neighborhood. The group walked into one of the houses, holding their weapons up in a ready position.
"Hello?" Called elsa. Seeing if she can draw out any people, or zombies that could be hiding. After the group looked into all the rooms and came out empty they all met in the kitchen.
"Okay. How many bedrooms are there?" Asked Jack as he looked through the cupboards.
"Like 3.... pretty standard, for a pretty standard home." Replied Hiccup with a shrug. Jack nodded.
"Which means two people to each room. You all can pick your partner." Stated elsa. The girls all looked at each other to elsa and then Jack.
"I choose hiccup!" Merida declared. Hiccup looked up and there was a slight hint of a blush.
"I-I dunno Mer... are you sure you wouldn't rather have like.... Rapunzel or Anna as your partner?" He asked sheepishly.
"Oh c'mon. Can' be scared now can ye?" Asked merida with a challenging grin on her face.
"N-no I suppose not..." replied hiccup.
"Alright then I choose Rapunzel!" Declared anna. Elsa looked at her sister.
"Wait but.... oh... okay then...." elsa finished. "I guess that just leaves-" elsa cut herself off as she looks at Jack.
"Guess that leaves us...." he finished. Elsa nodded and looked down to her bag.
A few minutes later everyone is set up in their rooms. Elsa comes back in to be met with Jack laying on the bed. Elsa cleared her throat.
"S-so.... you think we should see if the showers still work?" She asked nervously. Jack propped himself up on his elbows and nodded. Elsa walked to the bathroom that was in the room and tried the shower, cold water poured through and elsa smiled.
"You can get in first els." Jack stated. Elsa nodded and closed the door, getting ready for a long awaited shower.
Around 10 to 15 minutes later elsa got out of the shower, wrapping a grey towel around herself so she could get her clothes.
She opened the door to see Jack asleep on the bed. Elsa bit her lip and walked passed him to get her clothes. She nervously started getting dressed, first putting her underwear on and then her pants.
"Ahem..." a voice became from behind her and she turned around to see Jack's eyes opened.
"Oh! Sorry....." elsa threw on her shirt real fast. "The uh... the water doesn't get warmer but if you want to take a shower then you can..." Elsa spoke. Jack nodded and got up and closed the bathroom door behind him. Elsa let out a breath she hadn't known she had been holding.
Five minutes later the bathroom door opens, revealing Jack with just a towel around his hips. Elsa quickly averted her gaze to her bag as she unpacked some canned foods for dinner, a blush spreading from her neck to her cheeks.
Jack quickly got dressed himself and sat on the bed.
"So uh... how have you been?" He asked. Elsa looked up, an eyebrow raised. "Since we... broke up I mean...." he explained. Elsa nodded and bit her lip.
"I don't know.... I haven't dated anyone since... if that's what you mean...." she shrugged.
"You haven't?" He asked. Elsa shook her head.
"You broke up with me remember?" Her tone slightly bitter.
"That's not fair. You know why I did what I did." Jack explained.
"Actually no. I don't. My mother died that week Jack. And then you broke up with me. What did you like someone else?" She asked in a stern tone.
"Elsa. You know that's not why I-" elsa cut him off.
"Then why? I needed you! You were the only thing that made sense in my messed up world! We grew up together. So why?!" Elsa slightly raised her voice at the question. Jack took a breath.
"Because. I was bad for you. I was an orphan who wore leather and smoked! I saw what I made you into. Your sister and your dad needed that to stop." He explained.
"So you broke up with me and never talked to me again!? Jack you weren't just my boyfriend. You were my best friend. I needed you...." Elsa's voice cracked.
"I couldn't be what you needed!" Jack yelled. Elsa looked at him with anger and got in his face.
"Dont you dare tell me what I need. That is for me to decide. Not you." She growled.
"I dont think you know what the fuck you are doing. And you need to stop, before you hurt yourself." Jack countered.
Elsa kept her eyes angry and moved to push Jack away from her, but Jack caught her wrists and pushed her up against the wall.
"You wanna try that again?" He asked, his face only inches from hers. The two looked in each other's eyes, their expressions softening once they realized the position they were in. They stayed that way for some time, too close, and just staring at each other.
"Elsa?" Came Anna's voice as she knocked on the door rhythmically. The two sprung apart, their eyes wide.
"Come in." Elsa replied, anna walked in, their mother's scarf in hand.
"I thought you might want to take this tonight. Then I can take it tomorrow night." Said Anna cheerily. Elsa smiled and nodded, pulling the scarf around her own shoulders.
"Thanks Anna. Be safe tonight. I'll see you tomorrow okay?" She stated. Anna nodded and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.
"We should get to bed." Elsa spoke. Jack nodded.
"Elsa.... if we're gonna do this... you can't be the sweet straight A student, or the sweet innocent girl that you've been since we broke up." Jack stated. Elsa nodded.
"Don't worry. I'm not going to be. It's time for the other Elsa to come out of her shell." Elsa spoke before climbing into bed, her back facing Jack. The two fell asleep. Nightmares clouding their minds.
