Chapter 15: Home Away From Home

Soos, Wendy, Candy, and Grenda all waited in the rain by the bus stop. Candy and Grenda were sharing a hot pink umbrella while Wendy was wearing a hoodie and Soos had a large black umbrella, big enough to fit both Mabel and Dipper underneath. The bus pulled up and Dipper and Mabel stepped off. Dipper pulled up his hood and Mabel rushed under Soos's Umbrella. They talked the entire way about stuff they missed. "Hey Soos, is Onica here?" Asked Dipper as they walked back.
"Yeah, Dude. She said she'd keep.an eye on the Shack since technically she's been working at there since before the Mystery Shack was the Mystery Shack, so I trust her to watch the Shack while I'm gone, but she really wanted to come see you dudes." Said Soos as Wendy slowed down and walked next to Mabel.
"Hey Mabel I'm sorry I scared you about High School so bad that you basically started Weirdmagedon, anyway I just wanted to tell you some good things about highschool." Said Wendy with a smile.
"Like what?" Asked Mabel with an excited tone.
"Well, you meet some pretty cool people. Like I met Thompson he's pretty cool, I met you and your brother too." Said Wendy with a smile. "And you since you guys live in California I guarantee you'll meet some pretty cool people, if you haven't already." Said Wendy as Mabel smiled.
"Thanks Wendy. Speaking of cool people I met I HAVE A BOYFRIEND!!" Shouted Mabel and her voice echoed. Her girlfriends gasped.
"YOU HAVE TO TELL US ABOUT HIM!" Demanded Grenda as Mabel pulled out her phone.
"Wanna to see his cute face?" Asked Mabel with a squeaky tone as Dipper glared at Wendy.
"Wendy I'm a little upset that you made her think of him." Said Dipper as Wendy rolled her eyes at him.
"Let me see?" Asked Wendy as Mabel handed her the phone and Wendy examined the photo. The boy had a neon colored snap back hat he wore backwards and wore a black button up with the traditional 80's themed neon shapes on it. He also had a few snap bracelets with different fur patterns on them. He had bright blue hair poking out from under the hat and he wore sunglasses with a neon pink border. "Jeez he looks like you if you were a guy!" Said Wendy with a chuckle.
"His name is Drake but he tells me to call him Dray!" Squealed Mabel as Candy and Grenda looked like they were gonna explode.
"OMG! He is amazing!" Said Candy with a smile.
"I told him I'd call him as soon as I get to the shack! Do you guys wanna talk to him with me?" Asked Mabel as Candy and Grenda knodded quickly. The girls talked about Mabel's boyfriend the entire way back it felt like their squeals were killing Dipper.

When they walked up to the Mystery Shack they were greeted by Melody and Onica. As soon as they got inside the Shack they noticed Soos's grandmother wasn't there. "Hey Soos, where's your grandmother?" Asked Dipper as the girl's ran up stairs.
"Oh.... Abuelita passed on." Said Soos with a sad expression but that expression wasn't as sad as it could be.
"When did she die? If you don't mind me asking?" Asked Dipper as Soos smiled.
"It was a while ago but Abuelita is still technically in the Shack." Said Soos as he led Dipper over to a shelf where an urn sat with a photo of Soos's grandmother on it.
"Wow. Well that's really sweet Soos. Is Onica working at the moment?" Asked Dipper as Soos went into the gift shop.
"Yeah, why?" Asked Soos as Dipper followed.
"I have a few dozen questions I want to ask her." Said Dipper as he pulled out a pen and his journal.
"Oh well she should be done with her show in a bit, I bet you could catch the tail end of her show." Said Soos with a smile as he pointed down the hall to the room Stan would use for parties. Dipper walked down there and saw folding chairs set up all over the room with a ton of people, well mostly kids but still a lot of people were in the audience. Dipper snuck around the back of the room watching Onica who was in the center of the room. She was dressed in a royal blue dress with a black belt around her midsection, she wore her brown and gold hair in a bun. She had a blue velvet eye patch Bill's eye painted in black on it but it was closed. Dipper assumed that was symbolism for the fact that Bill use to control her with so much fear of hurting her loved ones and her left eye was the one that was used to control her, now it was closed for good. Candles lined the walls of the dark room, only light was the so called stage where Onica stood. Onica made a ball of blue fire appear in her hand then she held it close to her face and then lightly blowed on it, then the candles were lit and everyone began to leave.
"Feel free to talk to me in the gift shop about getting a little momento before you leave the shack for good!" Shouted Onica as everyone walked out. Children crowded around her asking questions. Dipper stood around her as the kids ran off one at a time. Onica looked happy, really happy. Once all the kids were gone she smiled at Dipper. "Hey Dipper." Said Onica with a kind smile.
"Hey when you're not busy I have a couple dozen questions I want to ask you?" Asked Dipper as Onica checked her watch.
"I'm on break right now anyway let's go talk." Said Onica as she walked from her little rinky dink stage to the dining room as Dipper followed. They sat and Onica smiled. "So what questions do you have?" Asked Onica as she opened a soda and slid it to Dipper then she opened one for herself.
"Well first what happen to you while Weirdmagedon was happening?" Asked Dipper as he clicked his pen and began writing before she even started talking.
"Well I knew as soon as Bill got a physical form because my entire body felt so powerful. I left where I was hiding and tried to save Mabel but I was caught. I was brought to Bill as a way to get Dad talking but I reminded Bill of a simple fact, if I die so does he. You know that symbol that my Dad has on his journal?" Asked Onica as Dipper knodded. "That's my zodiac, it's a scar on my back, I've always said I have a target on my back so anyone looking to kill Bill will see me as nothing more than a solution to their problem. That's why Dad kept me hidden for a long time. He didn't want to risk anything." Said Onica as she took a sip of her soda.
"Wow... Another question I have is what was Grunkle Stan like when you knew him?" Asked Dipper as he set the notepad down face down.
"Why do you want to know?" Asked Onica as she stared at him.
"Well.... Stan always picks on me for being myself and he once said I remind him of you so I guess with all the history you and Stan have I just don't want to believe that Stan would've treated you as awfully as he treats me." Said Dipper as he sighed.
"Well funny enough he did... He told me once he was comfortable around me he would call me names and pick on me all the time." She said with a smile.
"Did it ever bother you?" Asked Dipper as he watched her.
"Of course it did and when Stan realized that he told me one thing, he does it out of love." Said Onica as she placed her hand on Dipper's back.
"Then why doesn't he treat Mabel the same?" Asked Dipper with a sigh.
"Why don't you ask when he gets here?" Asked Onica as she sighed.
"Well I...Um.." Dipper stuttered as Onica stood.
"Trust me, Stan may be rough around the edges but if you're honest with him, he'll understand the way you feel and if he doesn't come around let me know." She said amd checked her watch. "We can talk more later, I have to get back to work." She said and walked away.

At the end of the day Ford and Stan showed up. They stepped inside and saw their bags by the stairs. "Hello? No welcome party huh?" Said Stan as Ford looked at the clock.
"Well it is passed midnight." Said Ford as he set down a suitcase. Stan walked into the living room and Ford looked around the shack taking in everything. "Ford!" Called Stan quietly as Ford walked in and smiled. They saw Mabel and Dipper cuddled up on Onica's lap. They were all asleep. Stan picked up a poloriod camera that was set on top of the TV. He took a picture of them and then waved the picture.
"Let's leave them be." Said Ford as he walked passed Stan and the others.
"They must've had a fun day." Said Stan as he followed Ford. They went and sat down at the table. They talked  for a while then went to bed.
