Chapter 19: Bill's Dilemma

It was the middle of a stormy night and Ford couldn't sleep so he went deep into the woods and decided to go check on Bill who was trapped in a cave behind a barrer. He went to the cave, took a deep breathe, and place his hand where the barrier should be but it was gone. "No..." He said as his hand passed through where the barrier should be.
"Don't worry Sixer." Said Bill from the darkness of the cave. Bill coughed and wheezed a little. "I stayed put." Said Bill as he shuffled forward, Ford could see patches of skin were torn off to reveal a yellow brick pattern under his skin. He had a sort of black blood oozing from his mouth and nose. He coughed a some of this black blood like substance was spat across then floor.
"Bill?" Asked Ford as he stepped back afriad this was a trick.
"Look Stanford, if I was going to hurt you I would've done it when... you..... weren't aware." He said with another blood filled cough. "I need your help." He said as he dropped the ground and clutched his side. He coughed some more and then Ford crotched by him, hand on his gun.
"How can I help you out of this exactly?" Asked Ford as Bill sat up and leaned against the cave wall.
"I need to be seperated from Onica." He said as he coughed.
"Why?" Asked Ford as Bill wiped his nose and the same black ooze was leaking out of it.
"I under estimated how well her inter-dimensional DNA would bond to human DNA. I miss calculated so she's more human than I thought and it's killing us both." Said Bill as he breathed heavily.
"If you die the world is better off." Said Ford as he turned.
"Really you can live without the daughter that you barely got to raise?" Asked Bill as Ford hung his head.
"If that's the price I have to pay then....yes." Said Ford as he sighed. He shook his head hoping this wasn't the only answer he had.
"I mean, you can always have another." Said Bill with a smile as the black ooze covered his teeth.
"What do you mean?" Asked Ford as he turned and looked at Bill. He wiped the rain off his glasses and then put them back on, he stared at Bill as he rolled his eyes.
"Have you never examined yourself once?" Asked Bill as Ford just stared at him confused. Bill groaned at the fact that he explain this to a man he had assumed was intelligent enough to figure out these things. "The reason you were ever able to have her is because I used one of my many abilities to permanently alter your physiology." Said Bill as Ford had a confused face. "But then again you need me alive to do that." Said Bill with a smirk. Ford sighed and then held out his hand to Bill.
"I'd rather save your life than feeling guilty that I sat by and did nothing to prevent her from dying along with you." Said Ford as Bill took his hand.

Ford took him to the shack and down to the basement. Luckily the kids weren't in the house but Stan was. Ford had to be careful not to get Stan's attention, because he was awake in living room. Ford started putting in the code when suddenly Bill dropped to the floor coughing. He was spitting up so much of that black ooze onto the floor. Ford sighed and tried to help him up but it was to late. "Ford, what is that doing in here?" Said Stan in an even tone but of course Ford could tell his twin was not happy with the situation in the slightest.
"Look he's dying and this may be our only chance at getting Onica back so I'm taking it!" Said Ford as he helped Bill off the floor.
"Then I guess I'm helping you." Said Stan as he stood next to Ford. They Bill brought down to the basement and started hooking him up to a machine that would hopefully seperate Bill from Onica's body. "So your sure this is gonna work?" Asked Stan as he strapped Bill's wrist to the arm of the chair.
"Absolutley, it's going extremely painful though." Said Ford as he strapped down the other arm.
"Trust me Sixer, I've been spending the past few days tearing off my flesh and coughing blood so this is going to be nothing." Said Bill as everything was ready. Ford typed on the keyboard, he hit a key then the computer started to scan their thoughts. One monitor showed Bill's and then other was blank.
"That's strange..." Said Ford as he and Stan watched the monitor. The screen was white suddenly the screen glitched and a few things appeared on the screen. They were memories, the first that appeared was Onica and Stan sitting together on the boat that he and the kids went fishing on last summer but it looked much better now. Stan smiled as he and Ford watched the memory.
"I remember that day, it was first time I saw her smile genuinely after you disappeared." Said Stan as Ford watched the screen. Things between Onica and Stan seemed awkward for a bit but then Stan started telling jokes and she began to smile. It skipped ahead to the car drive home. "Look, I know you miss your Dad, I miss hin too but I promise when we get him back you'll be right there next to me when he steps through that portal." Said Stan as he grabbed her hand and smiled.
"Thanks Uncle Stan. How long do you think that will take?" She asked as Stan sighed.
"I don't know but we'll be doing it together every step of the way." Said Stan as Onica smiled.
"Ok." She said as se then continued looking out the window.

The memory switched to something else. This memory was a few years later. Onica was sitting on her drawing when Stan knodded on her open door.
"Hey kiddo, guess what?" Asked Stan as he sat next her on her bed.
"What Uncle Stan?" Asked Onica as Stan smiled at her.
"Well since the summer is almost over and I'm not smart enough to home school you like your Dad was probably gonna do, I got you signed up for kindergarten. It'll be fun, you'll a bunch of kids your age but you can't use your powers there." Said Stan as he patted her leg.
"It sounds like fun, Uncle Stan. When do I start?" Asked Onica as Stan smiled.
"Next week on Monday. We'll go buy some school supplies tomorrow and you'll be good to go." Said Stan as she hugged him.
"Thanks Uncle Stan." Said Onica as she hugged around Stan's middle section.
"No problem kiddo." Said Stan as she hugged around her waist.

"This everything I missed over the passed 30 years of her life." Said Ford as he smiled and began to tear up. Both of their eye were locked on the memories being displayed on the screen so didn't notice Bill was completely passed out.
"I'm gonna go to bed but you have fun catching up." Said Stan as he patted his brother's shoulder and walked out. Ford stayed up watching this all night.

Ford was woken up by Dipper. "Great Uncle Ford?" Asked Dipper as he placed his hand on Ford's shoulder. Ford shot up and then saw it was just Dipper and relaxed. Ford looked around the room and saw it was Onica sitting in the chair. Onica had no yellow in her hair, her hair was brown and all the scratch marks were healed. She was back to the way she used to be. "Why is she here?" Asked Dipper as Ford stood and stared at the screen, it only showed her thoughts. They were no longer memories they were her thoughts.
"I severed the connection!" Said Ford he smiled. "I DID IT!" He shouted happily as he picked up Dipper who has suprisingly lighter than he expected and spun around. Dipper had never seen his great uncle this ecstatic about anything before.
"What does any of that mean!?" Asked Dipper with a smile as Ford put him down.
"For as long as she's been alive Bill and her have been connected. I once tried to severe the connection when she was little but it caused her so much pain, I couldn't bare to put her through it again." Said Ford as he started unstrapping her wrists and saw they were bruised. "Bill has tormented her more than anyone else in Gravity Falls and because they were connected she could never leave now she's free." Said Ford as he smiled at his daughter who he just saved from 30 years of toture.
