Writer's block is like having a thorn so far up your skin, the process of getting it out is so annoying and it'll probably take you a good while to do so, but when you do relief washes over you.
If you're new to writing or thinking about writing your very first book, be prepared for writer's block. I get it almost every single time, but that doesn't mean you're a bad writer, it just means you're out of ideas but that is okay, you are not a machine, you are human.
Anyway, being a new writer you're going to want to delete you're book because you feel as though you suck and writing isn't for you, but really that isn't the case. I don't specifically know how to get over it myself, but during this time I usually put writing to a hold and relax.
I will watch movies, tv shows (La Casa De Papel, Shameless, FRIENDS, Emily in Paris, Elite, YOU, The Vampire Diaries) I will listen to music according to the genre of my book, and I will go to Barnes & Noble, buy a book, probably eat a Starbucks sundried tomato, pesto & mozarella panini with a Mango Dragonfruit drink, no lemonade and enjoy my time away from writing.
If I get an idea though it, like let's say I'm around someone and they do or say a particular thing, I will write it down on my notes. It's a good idea to get ideas from the real world, considering it's the world we live in.
And don't worry if the first chapter of your book doesn't have anything interesting, usually the first chapter is always a bit boring but that's okay, it's just the intro to your story and most books start out that way anyway.
Don't overthink it, writing should not feel like a job because when it does, that just means you're not enjoying it (at least to me) I write for fun and to pass time, please do not write when you are bored, that will only make for boring books.
Last but not least, do NOT rush it. All good things take time, once again if you have really good ideas that you feel you can't wait to write, open your notes and start writing chapters on there so when you are already to that point in your book, go back and read what you wrote on your notes and pick out whatever makes sense with your book!
So my tips to get over writer's block, watch movies & tv shows, read, get inspiration from the world around you & write down your ideas on your notes.
