You've heard the, "don't judge a book by its cover" bit, right? We as humans are naturally drawn to looking at things that we find pleasing to the eye, e.i, Harry Styles. Wether it be from the color or the things in it, our eyes are captivated by what we see, making us want to know more about it.

So really, don't judge a book by its cover does not apply when writing a book because you're not going to want to read a book with a plain black or white cover with a title slapped right onto it, that doesn't attract you, it doesn't tell you anything.

A book cover should comply with the genre of your story, while telling a small story of its own, that will attract readers depending on your cover.

If you're writing a book about (example) Harry Styles who has escaped a mental institution and is pronounced as dangerous, you're not going to have as your book cover a picture of a smiling Harry Styles with bright colors, no.

It must be dark, try maybe a picture of Harry with a dark look on his face.

What I do for my book covers when I'm not asking someone to do one for me, kindly, once I have my story planned out, I go on PINTEREST and type in "Harry Styles dark aesthetic" this will give you endless pictures of him, you pick out the one you like, MAKE SURE IT IS GOOD QUALITY.

So I pick this one:

You see how it's not the size of a book cover? What I do next is I zoom in on what I want for the picture and make sure that it's the size of my phone screen, that is usually the size of a book cover, so:

Once I do that, I go to PHONTO for the font I want my title in. Since your book is about dark psycho Harry (example) please do NOT choose a cute and bubbly font, what are you doing? Don't do it. Also, before you can do the font thing, it suggests if you want to use a filter, this is always a good idea but you don't have to.

In my case, I decided to use one, and I used FADE, that is always a good one.

Okay, next, my preferred font to use for my book covers is and always will be GEORGIA

Okay, next, my preferred font to use for my book covers is and always will be GEORGIA. I also use HOEFLER TEXT ITALIC and GEORGIA ITALIC sometimes, they are more profesional fonts you can say, and you want to seem profesional, you don't ever want your books to seem childish.

For the title, I usually go by song titles, lyrics or just random shit I might come up with. Remember, you're writing a dark story, so your title HAS to match. You can't have a dark Harry book cover with the title, Happily.

Considering what the book is about, this is what I got:
