Smart.
Witty.
Popular.

Those are three words that describe Dain Ortega perfectly. He has perfect, thick blonde hair that always stays neatly combed. He has piercing sapphire eyes that could make you feel like he was peering into your soul the second you made eye contact with him.
Dain is tall, has perfect posture, perfect jaw...
Everything about him was perfect.
Well, at least to Finis.

"Mother, do you need any assistance with the cooking?" Dain asked politely.
"I'm fine, thank you. Did you finish your studies?" said a high, proper voice.
"I have-" Dain paused as if he was thinking his next words through. Then he finished, "I haven't... Thank you for the reminder!" He raced upstairs, causing the wooden steps to make a loud thudding noise every time he made impact.

Finis' mouth was wide open.
He had just been assigned to Haunt the one person he had been in love with while he was still alive.
Before mulling over this unexpected turn of events for too long, Finis hastily followed Dain up the stairs.

The second storey of the cottage had walls covered with paintings of flowers and different types of landscapes. 'Someone's an artist in this family,' Finis thought.
Finis never got to know Dain at all during high school. All he did was stare from afar, fantasizing about picnic dates and watching sunsets together instead of actually getting to know Dain. But it was quite hard to even talk to Dain... He had so many friends and all the girls swooned over him.
Dain was popular.
Finis wasn't.

After admiring a lot of paintings, Finis finally made his way to Dain's room by just going through all the walls until he found the room where a blonde was sitting at his desk furiously writing- No, not writing... Drawing.
'Looks like I found the artist,'
Finis thought. 'So much for doing studies, though.'  Dain jumped out of his chair, messing up the sketch he was busy with. He looked around the room, terrified.
"Who said that?" he whispered, almost to himself.
'Crap crap crap crap crap! Did I really say that out loud?!' Finis started panicking. Then before he could stop himself he said, "Hi, I'm Finis and I am a Ghost that will be Haunting you until next October! Here, let me show you that I'm here." Finis crabbed a bowler hat off a coat hanger and put it on. "See? A Ghost... I am, indeed, a Ghost!"

Dain felt his heart rate speeding up, his head starting to feel light-
He collapsed to the dark oak floor.

Finis paused.
"Great."
