Happy At Last

All Finis could hear was a ringing in his ear.

It had been an hour or two after Finis' experience in the Underworld... He was trying to find Dain, for he was no longer in the flower fields.

It was the dead of night. The stars were twinkling ever so slightly in the darkness above the small, peaceful town of Charrault. The people of Charrault had all fallen into a peaceful slumber, awaiting a new, bright morning. A lot of time had passed since the first of October. The year was coming to an end with Christmas just around the corner. Finis was eager to celebrate with Dain not too long ago, but now matters had gotten worse.

Finis had searched almost the entire town for Dain and there was no sight of the tall, strapping blonde. However, Finis had not checked one place, for this is a place he always refused to go to...

The Graveyard.

Finis hated the old, tombstone-filled garden. He was too afraid that he would see his own grave and have sudden sadness fall over him. But as Finis' Ghostly form glided past the graveyard, he heard small, muffled sniffles coming from it. Curiosity took the better of him, so Finis went inside the dreaded tall, black gates to see a broad-shouldered, tall boy with thick blonde hair, hunched over a tombstone.

The tombstone had a single powder blue rose laying on its side against the smooth-stoned base of the grave. Finis glided closer and closer towards the tombstone and saw his name carved in it. He held in a gasp, tears welling. He finally realized who the blonde boy was...

Dain.

Before Finis could think of his next move, Dain began trying his hardest to speak through his tears.
"F-Finis... I'm sorry- I'm s-sorry..." Dain breathed. "I should not have told you about your d-death. I'm so s-sorry. I was too afraid-"
A loud cry left Dain's mouth and echoed through the town.
"I DID LOVE YOU! And now it's all gone because I was a-afraid..."

Finis was stunned. His thoughts were stuck-
"I was afraid too," Finis muttered.

Dain whipped around in shock. "F-Finis?" he stuttered.

"It's me... I'm right here. I'm sorry too, Dain-"

"Prove to me that I'm not just h-hearing things-" Dain whispered.

Finis went up to his grave and grabbed the flower carefully. "I'm here... And I need to say something to you, Dain..."

Dain's mouth was agape, tears still streaming down his face.

"Dain," Finis began, "I have fallen in love with you... And not once have my feelings for you disappeared. I told you that you have put me through pain, but that pain has been lifted by the very words you said to my tombstone not too long ago. Dain? Do you really love me?"

Dain began to smile the widest smile Finis has ever seen. "I love you more than you could ever know..."

"Then may I have this dance?" Finis asked, tears starting to roll down his eyes.

Dain's hand searched for Finis' until he felt a cold, solid-but-not-solid hand grasp his.

A blinding blue light illuminated the graveyard.
Standing there before Dain was a translucent being, only just able to be seen.
The being was a tall, skinny boy with chestnut brown hair, emerald green eyes and small freckles dotted over his cheeks and long nose.

"Finis?!" Dain exclaimed.

A smile crept over Finis' face. "Now you can see me... Finally."

The two boys grasped each other's hands and started spinning, laughter echoing through the dark graveyard that was only lit by a few candles.
"I know nothing about dancing!" Dain giggled.
