And now.. it's time for the finals. The ultimate battle, the final boss? No. Both teams are strong. But one team lost one of their pillar teammate, and the other team gained a strong pillar way too quickly. Both teams couldn't quite adapt to Hinata leaving fastly or Hinata joining at the last couple weeks. But now, and in the match, on the court, they'll find out which team adapted the best.
Right now Karasuno was at the bus to the nationals, they kinda moved on from Hinata and developed new attacks, but not the quick attack of course.
The problem is, with their strongest bait gone, they can't do fake attacks nor those where Hinata runs to a side then fake jump and spikes from the other.
Losing Hinata was hard, not as a friend only but as a player they depend on too, their winning card. But they tried their best to not let that get in the way of a winning chance, they hope they did well in that.
Kageyama also tried his best but every time he sets he doesn't see Hinata flying, trusting him with a set. He doesn't see Hinata cheering on a spike he did. He doesn't see Hinata blabbering on how Kageyama didn't set the ball well. He doesn't see the person that he called his rival and bestfriend. He can't sense that challenging vibe between the two anymore, the vibe that pushed him to do his best. The vibe that encouraged him to continue playing.
He looked out the window, cars passing and buildings. They are getting closer. He can hear Tanaka snoring and Noya talking with Asahi.
He imagined this trip before. But he imagined that it was Hinata natter on how they were gonna get that cup, or that when he wins, Kageyama has to buy him a ton of meat buns/Nikuman, on how the cup would look in their gym, on how he'll show on tv doing his quick attack.
But Kageyama destroyed that boy's specific goal, and he didn't even apologize.
No, he can't let his regret fill his mind right now. He needs to focus. He promised that he won't let his team down like he did to Hinata. And he will fulfill his promise. They worked hard after Hinata, and he doesn't want that to go to waste.
After a few hours of driving they finally reached the place they're going to stay in. They still have a day more, that means the match is after tomorrow. They are going to spend the next day relaxing and reviewing the plan.
After a day of relaxation and going over the plan like 65 times, they finally woke up to the day they were waiting for, they have longed for this day and there they are, riding the vehicle to the place of the fight, the stadium.
That stadium is huge with many bleachers due to the fact that the matches that are held in there are important.
They walked through the entrance, walking straight forward until they reached the door that leads to huge court.
The court was one big rectangle with a net in the middle. Bleachers surrounded the place and the roof was so high, yes it was a closed place with roof and walls.
As they were getting ready on their side, the other team was finally walking through their side's entrance, once the little devils stepped in there they immediately saw Hinata, standing there with another team, wearing another team's clothes, wearing a different number, on the other side of the court.
They knew that they would eventually have to see this, but it feels like they were hurt all over again, and you know what hurts the most? Knowing that it's their fault and none other.
The little devils saw Karasuno staring at them, or at Hinata specifically and smirked. They waved sarcastically and pulled Hinata next to them even more.
Hinata looked at his team confused, but then followed their gaze just to be met by his past team, friends. He quickly looked away nervously, they were there, and he was here. And on different side of the court. Not exactly what he planned in the beginning of the year but he can't do anything about it now.
His team started walking forwards towards Karasuno and dragged him with them. He wanted to turn around and go back but they were already facing Karasuno.
Daichi stared at Yasu in the eye, frowning. Yasu stared back with a smirk. The teams stared at each other intensely and the air was hard to even breathe for Hinata.
Kageyama couldn't believe his eyes. There he is, Hinata, standing in front of him. Should he apologize? Should he greet him? What should he do??
"We are going to win, Karasuno." said Yasu
"And what makes you so sure?" replied Daichi angrily
"Awh! Was losing Hinata hard? And knowing that it's your fault, too! Heh, as a captain, you are pathetic for letting that happen to your teammate and not doing anything~" teased Akira
Daichi just growled and Karasuno glared.
"Now, now Akira. Save your energy in the match when we're going to defeat them. Good luck Karasuno, you'll need it." smirked Takao and led the team back to their side. Noya and Tanaka wanted to go after them but Suga stopped them.
"They are right, I am a bad captain." started Daichi and everyone looked at him sadly and some wanted to argue back.
"But I'm having this match because I want to become a better captain and not make the same mistake again!" he said loudly and everyone cheered.
"Let's show them Karasuno!"
