Night and day
I will lay
On the grass
As a wave of memories
Close over me
And when they crash
I stand once more
With a waving flag
Tense and more
I pick my rifle
I pledge allegiance
Before I march into war
I look up to see it's raining metal
One by one
Gun by gun
A blackbird
A tiger's eye sings a lullaby
About a knight
To the flag of the United States of America
I say a prayer
With a widen stare
And to the republic
For which it stands
Lives taken
Lives shaken
As the core
Burns a light
Not a wave can take it down
You put up my flag
Your flag
Our flag
A lion's roar
A rifle stores
Bullets that soar
Cutting the air that we breathe
A glitch I swear
I do not dare
To look away
A figure
A friend of mine
Saves a life
Saves my life
Lay on the grass once more
Red painted over dirt
Lasts words
"One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all"
The metal rain pauses
The lion's roar lets out
Above war
My heart torn
Away from the spirit
That spirit that gives me hope
That tells the truth
My fate
The trust
The faith
And it all releases from my grasp
Flying in the air
To my reason to fight
To the one reason to stand
To stand above the mountain
50 stars my last glance
13 stripes
With the American flag in my hand
