In the mirror was a little girl
Still haunted by the memories
She stares at the stranger in front of her
Drowning in an ocean filled with venom
Why am I not good enough?
The stare of a hollow void
Silence
In the classroom
Speak up they said
Quivering hands
Frozen in place
What is this feeling called?
Asylum
Is what home feels like
She tried to be a good girl
She tried
Locked in the dark closet for not understanding
Beaten for screaming for help, no scars no proof
Dragged like a ragged doll for messing up
Kicked out only to be forced back in
What is love?
She doesn't know the feeling
Alone
In the playground
They whisper, they giggle
The little girl on the swings
Too scared to go home
What is this feeling called?
The little girl asked the stranger in the mirror
The stranger's eyesight became weak
She screamed
Why didn't you run away?
Why didn't you fight back?
Why don't you want to be free?
She then screamed
You will be loved, I promise
Put that sharp edge away!
The stranger remembered being a little girl
Three times, two knives, one jump
And yet she failed
The Moon
The little girl tilted her head
A blank stare
She will help you learn these feelings
She is your hand to hold
The Moon doesn't have hands the little girl said
The mirror laughed through her tears
You still talk to the moon right?
The little girl spoke
But the Moon doesn't answer
She will
The little girl asks
Who are you?
The stranger paused for a second to wipe her tears
She smiled as she answered the little girl one last time
Someone you will learn to love
