The sun beat down on the taxiway pavement, the heat bouncing off the gravel and right back into the air, causing Sora Chibana to raise her hand to cool herself off with a wave. This would definitely not be something she missed. The heat."SORA, DON'T GO!"
A pair of arms encircled her frame, the girl doing so staring up at her with wide, teary eyes. Another set of muscular arms wrapped around her shoulders, locking her into a steeled embrace as flight attendants began boarding the private jet behind them.
It was Izumi that spoke first, sniffling as she asked, "Are you sure you need to move back to Japan so soon? We were only just started getting close."
Sora chuckled. "Izumi, I've known you since I was fourteen. We've been close."
"But it feels like only yesterday!! How could seven years pass by like that?!" Izumi is quickly yanked off by Kade, who completely lifts Sora off of the ground to give her a bear hug, her arms circling tightly around his broad shoulders. "You know I'm not going to be able to control her until she gets a call from you the moment you land, right?"
At the reminder of her departure, Izumi bursts into tears, activating her quirk and melting into a puddle on the pavement, shifting between her friends only to resolidify and throw herself back at Sora--her body still somewhat liquified as she sobbed. Every time this happened, Sora couldn't help but think how Izumi's Crybaby quirk was incredibly fitting for the emotional girl.
"Please please please let us know when you're there safe and sound." It was hard to tell with the wetness of her cheeks was from her quirk or tears. "We're going to miss you."
"Very much," Kade confirmed, gripping her shoulder lovingly. "Japan is getting one of the best there is. They better be grateful."
"Or else we'll come and drag you right back here!" Izumi declared.
There was a painful strain in her throat as Sora looked between both of her friends. They were the first to truly make her feel welcomed when she was young and scared about moving to a foreign country. Since then, the trio had been inseparable. From school to professional hero work, they did everything together in perfect sync--Sora always confident stepping into battle knowing that they were watching her back. It was harder to leave them than she was willing to admit aloud for fear of breaking down into tears in front of them. This was already hard enough for all of them without her joining in on being an emotional mess. There would be plenty of time for crying on the plane.
"I'll miss you both too much. I love you."
Another round of tears from Izumi left both she and Kade trying to put her liquified body back together for one final hug, Sora needing to turn away quickly before her eyes got too misty. With a small wave, she took a moment to take in every detail of her two friends before being the last to board the jet, slinging herself into a plush, velvet seat. Too bad it didn't matter how comfortable it was. She already knew she would be too restless for sleep this entire trip.
