a/n: surprise!!! the epilogue is split into 5 chapters: hong jisoo, xu minghao, choi seungcheol, yoon jeonghan and the actual finale.
JAJSJSJWJWJWJ i just couldnt end the story in one chapter, so i split up their own resolutions to their conflicts; so you guys do not just only see everything through the eyes of one character. yeah! sorry for the long a/n, keep reading nOoOow!
IT IS hong jisoo's fault.
he was desperately trying to get his money, to convince the king about the war, to keep the smiles on the faces of bellezia's citizens. but, had he known, that sometimes it can't be settled with a few digits and his calm words, he wouldn't have attempted once in persuading jeonghan about his crazy plan.
sometimes, hong jisoo is of no help. sometimes, he's a problem.
maybe it was the wrong choice, to come all the way here, to the tree house. the lights were on, meaning jeonghan was here, and jisoo will definitely make another mistake. no—not a mistake that will put the kingdoms in danger, because the kingdom's unity is as broken as it can ever be for jisoo to damage it further.
jisoo feared that he will put his own self in danger.
he liked jeonghan. of course he did; they'd been together in their early years, he'd seen jeonghan's vulnerable side and how adorable he actually is, he'd experienced being yelled at by jeonghan because, well, jeonghan wanted to get justice using the wrong methods.
jeonghan hugged him. told jisoo that he'll give everything in the world just for jisoo to get better, that he'll make the whole world acknowledge jisoo's works of art. in one night, jeonghan meant comfort and home to jisoo.
that was more than enough for jisoo to like him.
jisoo gets reminded of the memories they made in the tree house as he walks up the creaky stairs, smiling as he gets to the tid bits of jeonghan being dumb and blind to commoner stuff.
jesus. his life revolves on romance too much, doesn't it?
"ah! god, i thought jihae-ssi already found me. it's just you, hong jisoo-ssi!" jeonghan emerges from the door, smiling down at jisoo who had just reached the last step. jisoo returns the smile to jeonghan. "i didn't expect you here."
"i expected you would be here." jisoo replied, gesturing for jeonghan to come in. "they might see us here. come on, let's get in."
"oh no no!" jeonghan blocks the door, confusing jisoo. he points to another stairwell, the one that leads to the rooftop. jisoo furrows his eyebrows, unsure of what to do—until jeonghan walks up and waits for jisoo.
jisoo climbed up as well, sitting beside jeonghan. before he could speak, he was immediately stopped by the sight in front of them. it was the usual; dark sky, dead stars littering all over it, the moon sitting there all alone. but, this time, he was with jeonghan.
"this was always my favorite view in the world, jisoo-ssi." jeonghan admits, rocking back and forth while he held his folded legs by his knees. jisoo understood why so, though. it was beautiful. "because this is the only place where my loved ones can hear me."
"oh." jisoo replied.
jeonghan hums, continuing. "i could tell mother and father and my step-father about the struggles of being the next in line. i could tell suhae about the new source of happiness i found out recently. and you know what? it feels reassuring, because they're always there. listening, looking down at me."
