never let it be said that kibutsuji miki doesn't think his father hung the moon.
that is, if he shuts his eyes and pretends distant echoes of screams don't rip him from his sleep at night. (they do).
however, as much as the demon child looks up to and adores the man that raised him, muzan scares him - if only a little.
his father never sees it, but every time he hurts someone, human and demon alike, the boy he loves more than anything flinches. it's only small and barely noticeable, but just about there enough for an upper moon to see and report back on it.
it is never brought up, however gut wrenching it is for the curly haired man.
but yes, miki loves his father like the moon loves the sun.
and after time, he's begun to love the upper moons as well as the odd lower moon who makes it more than a few years before being killed off (perhaps rui more than the others, though that's solely down to rui being the only other child demon miki is allowed to interact with).
in fact, he remembers developing a close mother-son bond with tamayo before she turned traitor and ran.
so why is it that he feels a strange sense of boredom with each new day that comes? after so long, the different sunrises start to look the same.
miki doesn't like his new family and he is convinced his father doesn't, either.as the small group of four walks down the busy streets of tokyo - one of miki's hands connected with his father's that isn't occupied by a child and the other swinging at his side, avoiding his new mother's - all he can think about is how much he wants to go home.
the incessant babbling of almost nonsensical topics is enough to put the albino demon on edge to an almost unthinkable extent. not much can get under miki's skin, he is a patient and loving boy through and through, however this facade his father has him playing along with could perhaps prove to tip him over the edge completely.
his small, pale hand grips muzan's tightly (too tight, should he have been a human), and yet some how all it takes is a simple squeeze in return for miki to begin to relax.
granted it doesn't last long - any composure the little demon has began to build back up cracks when the brat starts playing with his father's loose strands of hair. muzan is his father not hers. to her, all muzan will be is a ticket to an early grave.
if his composure was crumbling before, it completely shatters at the hand that grips his father's shoulder (specifically on the side miki was attached to).
he whips around to face the unwelcomed visitor and widens his eyes almost comically at the sight of the hanafuda earings.
the same earings he wore.
