Chapter One|An Owl Burglar

----------------------

Luz was waiting at the driveway of her home, Its been three years since she came back from Reality Check. So apparently her mother was enrolling her to a Camp called Creativity Check. Interesting as the names are similar.

She was suspicious of the name, and Luz couldn't trust her mother about this, after last time. But she can't just run. Where would she go? Where would she live? The woods?

No. She may have survival skills, but her nerd limbs would not be able to adapt quickly. Luz would die in probably three days because she was not that athletic, nor did she have much information on the animals in the woods. There was probably bears and wolves.

Luz did not wanna get eaten.

So, she had to give in, and accept to the enrollment. Luz wondered what torture this camp was going to give her, make her watch happy little children shows? Make her paint mythical creatures? The past her would probably have a field day.

How did mythical creatures even come to be? Was it because of someone who retold a story by another and it was retold through generations? But then that would mean there would be lost legends that could be unknown. Information that would never be told again because its tellers disappeared from time.

Like, Griffins might have been tall tales. Or are they real, but had died out? Like dinosaurs? But if they did we would see the skeletons like the dinosaurs skeletons.

The human mind is a complicated subject to just 'hop' into. You would need to know what mental illnesses, the sections in the brain like the personality, and the memories. The imagination. Minds are as fragile as the body. If you knew how to tap into another's mind, you could shatter their beliefs. Such as Reality Check shattered Luz's.

They fucked her up bad.

Luz observed her surroundings, taking in the scent of the outside. It smelled like lemongrass and lavender, that scent was sickening by now. Because it reminded her of that place.

How do humans use their five senses? They can taste, smell, touch, see, and hear. But how can they automatically use them? How can they see automatically, how could they hear something without meaning to? Sure, they are from the use of organs such as eyeballs, and the ears. But we don't usually mean to use them.

We could see something we didn't mean to see. But couldn't change anything about it without removing our sight. We could hear something we didn't mean to, and remove our hearing. Not seeing, nor hearing.

Her mother then approached her from behind, setting a hand on her shoulder. Luz glanced back, one good thing that she had gotten from Reality Check, was to instantly know who was near her. This case being, her mother Camila.

"Mija, are you ready for Creativity Check?" Camila asked her daughter, as Luz shuffled her feet closer together as she looked back at the ground. Noticing that she had put on her red converses. Though, they were untied.

How fast can you untie a shoe? That question also goes for how fast can you tie one. The average time is thirty seconds, but some people can tie them faster.

Now how fast can you tie a rope, how will you tie it? What knot will you use? A loose knot, that will let you fall? or a tight one that is sturdy and will keep you safe from falling?

The rope is connections. A loose connection will destroy you, but a tight one will save you.

This question should be answered, though there are multiple answers for a single question.

Her mother frowned, before putting a new smile upon her face. "Don't worry cariño. I think it will be better this time." Camila told her daughter, as Luz had only stared down at the color of red on her shoes.

Then, Camila's phone rang. "You have work, you should go." Luz told her, finally looking up at her. "I'm sorry, Mija... Look I'll be here to see you return. Te quiero." Camila then kissed her forehead, and gave her a hug.

Luz did not hug back, and Camila frowned at that. But put her polite smile back on. "Okay, I'm going!" Her mother told her before she went to her car. Then Camila drove to the hospital.

Luz observed her surroundings, before she looked at her Azura Book. The fifth volume. It was one of the only things that kept her tied to her past self. The creative person she used to be, before that horrible camp.

She then sighed, and was about to put it inside her duffel bag. Before an owl suddenly took her book. "The hell? An Owl out in broad daylight???" Luz murmured, as the hazel brown owl started flying away with a sack and her book inside it.

"Hey! Give that back!" Luz shouted, as she started running after the small animal. She started to pant soon after she started sprinting after it. Then the owl suddenly flew into an old abandoned cottage, the door wide open.

Luz ran through the door, before the door closed behind her, as she leaned her hands on her knees. Luz took deep breaths, before she stood up and looked around. She was in a tent.

...wasn't she in an old abandoned cottage?
