Gasping sharply, you shoot up like rocket from the bed, clenching the sheets as sweat drops from your forehead. Looking around left and right, you notice you're lying on a bed in the dimly lit room.. it looked familiar to you. "The infirmary.." A multitude of bandages were strapped around various parts of your body but most of them were on your arms and torso. you sigh, exhausted, despite being asleep for who knows how long. you look down at your hands, twiddling your thumbs. "I hate that dream." Suddenly a we sharp pain strikes at your brain, causing you to grab your head with both hands, massaging your temples with your thumbs. "What.. the hell?" you mutter aloud, disorientated.
The cybernetic door slides open, causing you to jolt. It was only Mercy, you relax a bit. "Oh, good. You're finally awake." She smiles as she walks over to you with her clipboard. "What the hell happened to me?" You asks, gesturing to the bandages that covered seventy percent of your body.
"You were caught in the middle of an explosion.." she leans over with her stethoscope and places it on your bandaged chest, listening to your heartbeat. It was strong and steady as always, she'd expect nothing less.
"The Null Sector ship," you mutter.
"We saved Rio, don't worry." She sighs and moves her tool to your back, listening to your lungs carefully. " You really need to--"
"Be more careful," you interrupt. "Goddamn it, you're like a broken record."
Thinking that your lungs are fine, she backs up and makes unintentional eye contact with you. You look straight at her, "The hell are ya lookin' at me like that for?"
She couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "I'm sorry.. you've been unconscious for three days so--"
"What!?" You exclaim. "Three whole days!?"
"Well, yes. After the explosion we found you in the debris. You're lucky to be alive."
"I'd kill myself in the afterlife if I got killed by a stupid explosion."
Mercy examines your bandages with a slight frown that she tried to hide. She remembers when her and the team found you; you were bleeding out and your vitals were dropping. You nearly died. Thankfully you got patched up in time but still, it was hard for her to think about.
"If you're done zoning out," You say which snaps her back to reality. "Maybe you'll finally leave me alone so I can get changed into my armor."
Mercy shakes her head, "don't even think about it. You're going to stay at headquarters for the rest of the week so you can build up you strength."
