It gets messy - Pietro

Rhodey pushes open the door and we run in, raising our weapons. Since we thought it was just a drug deal, we only brought stun guns. I think Cap called them I.C.E.R.s, though I'm not certain. Whatever they're called, they're no match for the weapons trained on us.

But we have something they don't: Wanda.

"Alright, Wanda," Sam says, "Do your thing."

She raises her hands, her eyes start to glow red, and... nothing. Nothing moves.

The men inside laugh, and the one at the head of the table, probably the leader, steps forward. He has muscles to rival Cap's, and an evil grin to rival that of the photos I've seen of Loki of Asgard, who attacked three years ago.

"Your powers won't work in here, inhuman," he says, holding up a device.

So, apparently, we don't have Wanda, either. But that doesn't make any sense. Mine did. Why don't Wanda's? She's way more powerful than me, so, if anything, it should be the other way around.

My sister gives up, and so do her legs. She collapses into the nearest arms, which happen to belong to Vision. He has the grace to give me an apologetic look before propping Wanda back on her feet. She leans into him.

"What is that?" Vision asks.

"Just a little power drainer," the leader replies, "My own design, you know."

Then his face hardens and he orders, "Kill them."

Bullets and blasts and who knows what else start flying. We start running like Cap and Nat taught us to make it harder to catch us.

I can't speed anymore. Maybe the power drainer wasn't activated when I came in the first time or something.

"Does this count as messy?" I yell into the comms.

"Absolutely!" Sam yells back. He's the only one with the means to contact the Quinjet.

He must have called Cap in before I asked him about it, because literally a second later, the warehouse doors slam open and he and Nat run in, guns blazing.

"Brilliant," I hear Vis say.

The sudden arrival disorients the bad guys, and they swing around to attack the newcomers, leaving themselves open for us. Unfortunately, our stun guns aren't very useful against their full bulletproof covering.

I hear a beep in my ear which means our comms have been connected to Cap and Nat's.

"The big guy has a power drainer!" Rhodey says into the comms. His weapons have all been disabled to stop him from accidentally killing a lowlife druggie, so he's just as powerless as us.

"We need to get hold of it so Wanda can blast them!" Vision adds.

"On it," Nat says, and she starts weaving through the attackers and their weapons with apparent ease. All the weapons turn on her, but still, they don't hit her.

I stop running to admire her skill, and am rewarded by a couple of bullets in my arm.

I yell in pain, and Wanda is there in a second.

"Pietro's down!" she announces into the comms, "Give us some cover!"

The world is spinning, dipping in and out of focus. I can barely make Wanda out. There are two, three of her. This is so much worse than that nick I got that day what feels like an eternity ago. That just felt like accidentally cutting myself with a knife in the kitchen. This feels like getting stabbed by HYDRA in preparation for their experiments.
