; chapter five
—"I'll cook for you then."
"I'll protect you. Whenever you need, whatever the time. Call me. I'll be there."
Seian could almost feel the other's breath on his face's skin. It was warm, different from the cold night. His eyes were still widened with Vaughn's face inches apart from him. The other's serious yet determined face was something as if a puzzle that Seian couldn't put to pieces. He hitched a gasp, no words came out immediately. He felt how his heart drop, this asshole might've just broken his system.
"Hey. Seian. You okay? Hey. Shit."
He felt himself being shook. He blinked, fast, somehow noticed how he was staring blankly at the man before so, he hurriedly pushed Vaughn a little too much than he ought to. Seian pretended to cough, looking away, feeling how his face burn, again.
He feels incredibly stupid. How could he blush over this bullshit. He glared at nowhere, angry at himself. Embarrassed of himself.
"Shut the fuck up. You've been unbelievably aggravating. I am in no need of your pity."
Seian cursed him off. He couldn't help it, this stranger was being all too comfortable around him after saying that he considered him as his friend as of this moment. He can actually change his mind anytime and cut this man off his life, he would definitely do it, for the sake of his well-being.
"Woah," he heard the man said, seemingly amused. "Is this your defense mechanism? Not bad."
Seian glared at him, unpleased. "Excuse me?"
Vaughn smiled, shakes his head. "I'm sorry, I guess I was too strong on that part. I would punch me too." Seian, once again, looked away. "Anyways, I wasn't joking nor pitying you. I just really want to protect you. No shit."
"We just met officially like— a moment ago? And you want to protect me? I really don't understand any of your bullshits, Mr. Sarñento. I'd like to be excluded from your likely pranks," Seian scowled, not giving him a glance. He felt himself calming down, his once fast heart rate, is slowly going down.
Despite such beauty of their surroundings, Seian's emitting such viscous aura that he would punch this man beside him. Vaughn clearly saw that. He gulped.
"Let's exchange numbers," he tried to suggest, earning a silent treatment from the other. "Come on, Sei. Just numbers, you can call me whenever you want or just let it sit idly in your contact's list. I don't mind."
"Sei? Is he actually that comfortable with me? What's with the fucking nicknames? This asshole is really trying me today," Seian gritted his teeth with the thought.
"No," he shortly said, still not sparing him a glance.
"Oh, come on. I thought we were friends? Was it all a lie?" Vaughn's shoulders fell, disappointed.
