Chapter 4 - The Sorting Hat

 Remus spoke Quickly "the train is slowing down, well be there in 10minutes. Athena, you need to be sorted but you'll go after the first years but you'll go to the carriages with Mikayla and Melanie. After you get to the castle you'll go with Professor McGonagall...ok...everyone packs up your things...oh D-don't forget Rodger.." " ok ok I get it." I said reassuringly.

As we filed off the train there were carriages waiting to pick up the students and there was a big man telling the first years to follow him. Since I was two years older I wouldn't have to cross the lake with them. It was a good thing because it was pouring down rain. "Damn! My cigarette went out." Mikayla said, annoyed. "Just Get your Bloody ass in the Carriage, Mikayla! I'm getting wet because of you!" Melanie shoved Mikayla in as she said so. "What House do you think I'll-Oh my god stops the carriage we forgot Harry outside!" I Chuckled. Right outside the door, Harry was banging on the window. The door flung up to reveal a sopping wet Harry. " You shut me out of the bloody Carriage Mikayla!" He said, taking off his glasses and wiping them off. "Sorry," She said carelessly. While Melanie was laughing harder than ever. "So what house do you think I'll be put in?" I asked, turning to Harry. "Definitely Gryffindor-' "I agree," Melanie interrupted. "I think She'll be put in Ravenclaw," Mikayla said confidently. Harry snorted " You're crazy she's a Potter so Nina has to be put in Gryffindor." "Wanna bet on it?" Mikayla asked mischievously. "Hell yeah I do, Hm I'll bet 10 galleons she'll be put in Gryffindor," Harry said confidently. Mikayla smirked, "I'll bet 15 galleons she'll be a Ravenclaw." Melanie's mouth dropped.

The carriage came to a halt and an elegant woman dressed in deep green robes, probably in her 70's came and opened the door. The woman looked straight at me and said "Oh my lord you look like Lily! I'm Professor McGonagall I'll be sorting you." "Nice to meet you too," I said climbing out of the carriage. I started pulling my trunk off the back of the carriage when Professor McGonagall spoke " Oh no my dear this is simpler." She had waved her wand magiced my trunks all the way into the castle. "Oh smart" I breathed. "Good Luck Nina, See you at dinner!" Harry yelled over the rain. "Ok See you There!"

I followed Professor McGonagall into her office. "Wait here, Filtch the caretaker will bring you to the great hall," She said quickly. "Ok then," I said sitting down. It felt like ages sitting and waiting then an old greasy man came into the room " Your need in the great hall..." he said in a scratchy voice. As we made our way down the stairs to the Great Hall a voice boomed out " We have one more person to sort. She will be in her third year even though she has never been to Hogwarts. She was taught our curriculums for two years and now she's come to join us. Please welcome Athena Potter." As Fitch opened the doors the Great Hall opened every single head turned. There were murmurs and whisperings as I walked confidently between the tables straight to the sorting hat. I could feel their eyes bore into me.

"Ms. Potter please sit on this stool, then I'll place the sorting hat on your head." Professor McGonagall said. I did exactly what asked of me. As she placed the hat on my head the hat spoke and its voice rang out around the hall "A Potter?.... Another Potter...I'm astonished. You're brave...determined, kind, and intelligent....you're strong. Your mind is complex. I'm Better to put you in....." The hall was so silent that you would be able to hear a pin drop. The Hat gave a shuddered "RAVENCLAW!" There were gasps and murmurs that started immediately. " She is a Potter, it can't be right" a boy from Hufflepuff whispered. "I heard she's good on a broom," said another. Nobody clapped until the man who was talking about me when I walked into the hall who I know Now to be Dumblodor the Headmaster Stood up and applauded me. But even he looked astonished. Only then when the Headmaster stood up did the students join in. I could see Mikayla grinning at Harry from the Slytherin table. The Ravenclaw table was coaxing me over. They were yelling "Yes! We got Potter!" Dumbledore stood up again "Now before we eat I'd like to make announce, there is a criminal mass murderer on the loose named Sirius Black and I have many sources that have told me that's there were creatures on the train and those creatures were Dementors looking for Black. They will be on the Hogwarts grounds only under Ministery orders this. So I'm here to remind you, don't give them a reason to harm you. Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. Now everyone tuck in."
