( I'm rewriting my story because I wrote this when I was in middle school. I cringed the whole time I reread my book to remember how the story was plotted. I'm updating everything and I hope you enjoy it!)
I'm sitting at the dinner table admiring my date, Bryan. I always loved him, but my mom thinks he's not good enough for me and she's wrong.
As I'm taking a pic of Bryan for memories, my mom pulls up in her silver Audi R8. When she pulls up I look over at Bryan all disappointed. " Look who's here," I said while I hit my face with my hand.
He grabs my hand and says," Don't worry, at least she got here at the end of the date and not in the beginning."
I looked up and smiled at him.
"Brie" my mother calls,"it's time to go!"
"Coming" I say.
I hug Bryan and tell him I'll call him later that day. He nods his head and waves at my mother.
" Good afternoon Mrs. Bella!"
She looks away and puts the window up.
As I get in the car I can sense the tension in there.
"You should be dating someone else, that man you are with is not good enough for you," she said out loud before I closed the car door.
I didn't listen to her. Every time we have this conversation my head hurts.
"Well at least he's a great man like my father." I stated.
My mother looked at the road for a couple of seconds with no expression and then at me with tears in her eyes. She gets sad when she remembers my father.
"Sorry," I said while holding her hand," I just hate it when you complain about Bryan all the time."
She then patted my hand and wiped the tears off her face.
"Anyway" she says" tomorrow Cody will come over for dinner. Please be on your best behavior and give it a chance with him."
"Mom please listen to me, he's cute and all but he's not my type." I pleaded.
"But you'll like him the more your around him," she said.
When we pull up to my house I'm relived. I wanted to go to my room since my head was hurting. As we walked into my house my mom says," if you marry Cody he'll buy you a bigger mansion than this one," She said while cackling.
" Sure mom, whatever makes you happy," I said sarcastically.
As I'm walking up my stairs and down the hallway to my room, I look at all the family pictures. I stop in front of my favorite one. It's my father, mom and I at the beach making a sand castle. We all looked so happy. I smiled and walk into my room. I closed the door, plug my phone and jumped into my bed and sigh.
" If my father was still here would he be disappointed in me?" I questioned myself.
I then grabbed my phone and call Bryan.
"Hey I need to ask you something," I said.
" what about?" He said in a Australia accent to make me laugh.
" If my father was still alive, do you think he would be disappointed in me? Not listening to my mom about dating Cody and still being with you?" I said with my voice shaky. I was starting to choke up and felt the tears run down my cheeks.
" He wouldn't Bri, he would be very happy if he knew being with me made you the happiest person in the world. Don't worry about what your mother thinks, if she questioned you like that you already know the answer to that. He would have been happy of you." He said in a warming voice.
I smiled and wiped the tears away.
" Thanks. I'll text you when I'm up tomorrow, I want to go to sleep because my head hurts." I told him while holding my head.
" Ok beautiful, sleep well and I'll hear from you tomorrow." He said.
I ended the call and set my alarm for the next day. I knew my mom wanted me to look good tomorrow or else she'll have to pick out my outfit.
"Never again," I said to myself after I put my alarm.
Before I closed my eyes I pray to God that tomorrow is a better day and that my mom finally understands that Bryan is a good man for me.
