We began training together. I felt his well built arms wrapped around my unusual broad shoulders as he taught me different moves and strategies. As he taught me and I taught him, I felt him earning my trust and him, mine.
I rubbed my rough hands as I sat down with him to take a break. My stomach rumbled as I realized we had spent the whole day here just training. I looked at him and he was grinning at me.
"You're hungry eh?" I could hear the playfulness and charm in his voice. I nodded, looking down at the dusty floor we were sitting on.
"Here. Let's get something to eat" He holds out a hand and helps me up.
I sigh in relief of the reply. I wasn't sure how'd I be able to eat today. With having little money and all, it's hard to find a meal.
He takes me to a little diner down the street. I've noticed it before but I've never been in it. We walk in and I get hit in the face with strong scents of fries and coffee. I look around to see it almost empty. A old couple, stares at us as we sit down in the corner booth. I feel the piercing eyes of judgmental looks that the people are giving to us. And I don't like it at all. I bite my lip as I look at the menu. I see Ace looking at the menu and then looks up at me curiously and asks
"What are you getting?"
I glance back at the menu and say
"The question is, what can I get?"
He chuckles and answers
"What ever you want."
I look down overwhelmed and unsure what to get.
"What's good here?"
He smiles and looks down at the menu.
"I usually get the grilled chicken sandwich with fries"
I look down at the menu one last time before saying
"Then that's what I'll get"
He smiles and we wait for a waitress. He orders and hands our menus to the waitress. The waitress leaves making me and Ace alone again.
"Thank you" I say as I tap my fingers onto the table.
"Thank you for what?"
I tap my fingers nervously
"Thank you for everything"
He smiles and taps a tune on the table.
"You are certainly welcome"
We sit there in silence until the food comes and we dig in. I notice Ace saying a small prayer before he ate his meal. I felt my curiosity grow. I wanted to ask him about everything but I shove my face with delicious grilled chicken and fries.
I look over to see that Ace is doing the same thing. We make eye contact and our cheeks turn red. But then we almost choke on our food in laughter and embarrassment. I finish around the same time he did and I could only get one thing out of my mouth.
"That's the most delicious food I've ever had"
He smirks and agrees. He quickly pays and we walk down the road.
"Ace?"
He turns to me and I'm unable to see his comforting eyes and smile.
"Yes?"
I couldn't hold in my curiosity any longer.
"What's your story?"
