Emily slowly awoke in her hotel room. It took her a minute to realize where she was. Her arm was deep under JJ's body. She couldn't even feel it anymore, but she didn't dare do anything to wake the peaceful woman curled up into her. She surveyed the room. It was still dark, the sun was just about to rise upon the city. She looked at the bureau across from them with their bags on them, wondering when they had to get back. Emily pondered for a moment. Was she too much last night? Did JJ like her back? It all felt crazy and she knew JJ didn't feel well, maybe she just needed comfort. Whatever it was it was a lot for Emily and it was driving her crazy. JJ was driving her crazy, she couldn't think about anything else. She looked to the agent, subject to all her thoughts lately, pressed up against her. Emily smiled and softly played with her hair.

This was all so strange for Emily, because although she did have very real emotions, she didn't show them often, at all. There was something about this feeling that was impossible to hide, but the agent knew she had to, JJ could never like her back and she couldn't let her feelings get between them at work.

The blonde cuddled up in Emily's shirt and began to stir. She moved a bit before opening her eyes.

"Good Morning," Emily said with a smile before trying to gently get her arm loose.

"Morning," JJ said, returning the smile. They just lay there silent for a moment. It seemed as if each of them were trying to decide what to make of their current position, either to separate and pretend like they didn't feel anything, or the opposite. Emily' heart wanted, needed to get closer to JJ, if that was even possible, and pour out exactly how she felt, every little detail, but her head was against it. She was just about to move away, when JJ felt her attempt. To Emily's great delight she pulled at her hand to signal to her she that didn't want her to move.

"Emily," JJ started softly as she looked up at her and met her eyes, "Thank you, for last night."

Emily felt a whole new emotion. This trip to New Orleans was crazy; it felt like she felt a new emotion every other second.

Emily looked at the blonde's hand in heres and stroked her palm with her thumb. She didn't quite know what to say.

"Oh it was, nothing," she returned after a while.

"No, really, last night, I haven't felt like that in a really long time and it was-"

"Was?" Emily cut her off, "who said it had to end, there's a whole city out there and the plane doesn't leave for another 4 hours."

JJ beamed, and got out of bed with a start. She threw on a blue t-shirt with black low-rise jeans and her belt. While Emily headed to the bathroom, then they switched roles.

JJ stared at herself in the mirror as she fixed her hair and changed her bandage. Going with Emily, it felt crazy. JJ was beyond excited and it felt weird to her. Emily was her best friend, she had done countless things with her before, but this time, it felt different. JJ began to overthink her hair and makeup, it was like she wanted to impress Emily. She didn't want to put too much, or too little. She thought for a minute before thinking about how stupid she felt. She was stressing about Emily, who she had spent countless nights with, and seen her at her worst, she was gonna be fine. She applied a medium amount of makeup and stepped out of the bathroom. Emily subtly admired her when she came out.

"You look perfect," she said, "you ready?"

JJ knew that there was definitely something different about this time. "Ready as I'll ever be!"

Emily smiled and opened the door. She motioned JJ to go ahead of her, with both of their bags in hand.

"Well thank you!" JJ said in a playful voice.

"Of course, your highness," Emily responded in a similar tone, and JJ blushed. "So where are we off to?" JJ asked.

"Well- I was thinking we could go for breakfast at Waffle House, then maybe go sit in the park."

"Perfect!"

Emily took a seat across from JJ in the small booth. The restaurant was quite empty. They looked at each other, both deeply thinking about what they wanted, and the other may want. They sat in a silence for a second while they looked over the paper menu.

"Hey, so umm-" Emily started, just when the waitress came over.

"Hi, my name is Dani. Could I get you ladies anything to drink?" the waitress stated, as she pushed her long, dark hair out of her face.

"Yes, I'll get a coffee, with cream and splenda please," Emily stated.

"I'll get an orange juice, thank you" JJ said, "I'm also ready to order if you are." Emily nodded in response.

"Alright, what can I get for you?" the waitress responded with little emotion in her face.

JJ started, "I'll have plain a waffle please, with a side of hashbrowns," JJ said and smiled as she looked back and forth between the waitress and the menu.

"And umm, I'll get a two egg breakfast please," Emily said, "thank you."

The waitress nodded and walked across the black and white checkered floor back into the kitchen.

"So you were saying?" JJ asked. She moved her gaze to Emily's warm eyes.

"Oh, umm, I don't remember," Emily responded, tapping her fingers on the table.

"Okay," JJ responded, not totally convinced.

The restaurant wasn't air conditioned, so it was quite hot inside, even though it was March. That's just how it was in New Orleans. JJ pulled the elastic off her hand and tied her hair up into a ponytail.

The waitress came back over with their drinks, and placed them on the table. "Your food should be out soon, do you guys need anything else," she asked.

Bothe women said that they were indeed good, and the waitress headed back into the kitchen. That was fast, JJ thought. Even if the two were practically the only customers. JJ took a long sip from her orange juice while Emily stirred her coffee.

"How are you feeling today?" Emily asked JJ, before taking a sip from her now, much lighter coffee.

"I'm good," JJ said sincerely.

"That's good," Emily responded, she looked glad, "You really did do amazing yesterday," Emily continued with a shy smile.

JJ blushed, she was in disbelief, to be honest. She felt as if she had unlocked a new side to Emily that she'd never seen. "Well thank you," JJ said in a playful voice, bowing her head. She watched as Emily tried to hide a smile.

The two sat in an awkward silence for a moment. JJ had an urge to kiss Emily, an urge that seemed stronger than any urge she had ever felt. She couldn't, not here, not now. She thought she had a chance. It really had seemed like Emily liked her. The agent just felt so much doubt. Emily was probably only acting like this toward her because of the way she felt on this trip, whatever that may be. Emily probably didn't even like woman and JJ was just getting too ahead of herself. She internally sighed and looked out the window next to her. The sun was out, and most of the clouds had cleared up from the storm the night before.

"What's on your mind?" Emily asked, softly putting her hand on top of JJ's.

JJ looked back at her, Emily had her full attention, that was for sure. Was she just acting friendly with her or was it more? That seemed to be the big question. "Oh nothing much," JJ responded, she changed the subject, "How's Sergio doing?"

Emily laughed, "He's great! He sure is an interesting cat."

JJ laughed and cracked another joke, just as the waitress came over with their food.

She placed the food in front of each of them, and told them to ask her if they needed anything else. The two thanked her, and indulged in their breakfast.
