I opened the door to the horse barn in search of Stardust Tamaki's company.

"Stardust Tamaki, how are you boy?" I asked him the way a person would talk to their dog or the way a parent would talk to their baby. You know, that high pitched voice they make because they think that they'll be able to understand them better?

I patted him before grabbing the horse feed to feed the horses. I opened the bag and distributed a portion for Stardust Tamaki, Rocket, and Comet. I then just sit there and try to process what Papa told me for a bit before telling Stardust Tamaki the tragic news. Before I was about to him though, someone had walked into the horse barn.

"I heard about the ranch," a familiar voice said. I looked up and saw none other than my best friend, Alan Buckaroo.

I give a small smile up to him, glad that there would be someone other than my horse to talk to about the situation to. He then sat down next to me. "Yeah," I say quietly returning to my gloomed expression.

"It's not fair," I then said to him, "I mean, he's just throwing my whole life away without thinking about how I feel. I don't know any other life than the ranch life!"

"I'm sure he tried everything in his power to keep the ranch," Alan assured, "After all, the ranch life has been his dream life ever since he was a child. He's your father, of course he cares about how you feel. It must hurt him knowing that you're upset." I thought about what Alan said for a second and what he said did make since to me. I can't blame all this on my papa. It seems like Alan always knows what to say to me.

"You're right as per usual, Alan," I chuckled, "But I will find a way to save the ranch. I can't just let go of Stardust Tamaki and I know you can't let go of Rocket either."

"Y/n," he began, "I think it'd be almost impossible for you to find a way to save the ranch. Even your father can't save the ranch. I'm sure Stardust Tamaki and Rocket will be alright with the new owner."

I tried to make Alan see that I have to save the ranch so I then pointed out, "Alan, I'm a horse girl who has lived on a ranch her whole life, I don't want the boring city life. It's much more relaxing here, it'd be so hard to adjust to the city life and throw away the ranch."

"Hey, as a person that lives in the city life, I can tell you that it's not that boring," Alan said before whispering to himself, "If you lived in the city, maybe we'd see each other more often."

"What did you say?" I asked cluelessly.

"I-it's nothing," Alan stutters out before standing, "I'm going to go feed the cows and chickens now." I saw that his cheeks were tinted a pinkish, reddish color. Was he embarrassed? Why would he be embarrassed? Maybe he's feeling something else. He then walked out and I stood to watch him leave with my back toward Stardust Tamaki. It was odd, usually our conversations in the morning would be longer.

"Oh, Stardust Tamaki," I say still looking at the door, "How will I save the ranch?" I then see a bright light getting brighter and brighter behind me. What's going on?

I turn around to see what's happening, but I'm blinded by the light. It just keeps getting brighter and brighter and brighter before there's none at all.

I regain my vision and rub my eyes. I see a human figure in front of me.

I say to the blurry figure, "Who are you and what are you doing here?!"
