Tatsu's POV

Dinner was insanely awkward to say the least. I didn't eat much of the food given which led to me being lectured by Reiji about how i need to stay healthy to keep my blood good, which obviously made me want to eat less.

I went to my room straight after dinner. The silence was unbearable. I was alone yet there was so much tension. I could confront Ayato, that would probably help. Or i could go ask Shu to listen to his music again. Yeah, of course I'm going to choose the second option.

I wandered the halls for a bit. The place was so big I had already forgotten where the rooms were. I eventually found myself in a familiar corridor went to Shu's room.

I knocked and went in. As I suspected he was lying in bed listening to music. I went over and tapped his shoulder and without saying a word he pulled me down by the waist and gave me his left earbud.

I know in reality I shouldn't be doing this. Still, nothing official was between Ayato and I. Pissing him off with being this close to Shu would be fun too.

I couldn't understand if I even liked him either. How could hatred turn to love so fast? I deserve to be able to relax like this, Ayato is putting my mind through so much. I used to only have to worry about keeping Nanami and myself alive, not about stupid relationships.

Could I really commit to one anyways? I don't know if I'd be able to be vulnerable like that again.

I was quickly brought out of my thoughts as I was yanked into Ayato's arms. "Shu, I thought I told you she was mine!"

Without even opening his eyes, Shu said, " You may have mentioned something like that..."

"Stay away from her and don't touch her. It's not that hard to understand!" Ayato fumed. His grip on me was strong, not something I could escape from.

Shu groggily sat up, eyes barely open, "hmm... how about.. no." he reached for my arm and roughly pulled me back onto the bed with me. "I like having her here..."

The look on Ayato's face was priceless. The cold vampire was almost steaming, rage dripping from him, spitting out in every word he spoke. "She. Is. Mine."

"I don't think so.." Shu rolled over and went back to hugging me as he slept.

Ayato grabbed him by the collar, throwing him off the bed, almost dragging me with him.

Before I knew it Ayato had picked me up and brought me out into the hall. He let me down only to pin me against the wall. "I thought I told you not to hang out with then if I wasn't there!?"

I decided to challenge him, "You did, but I never agreed."

His grip tightened, nothing like the gentle Ayato from earlier, "You didn't have to agree. It was an order."

As much as I hate to admit it, the anger in his voice sent a shudder down my spine. "Why?" I asked. He looked confused, not quite getting what I was asking. "Why me?"

"Because you're human, a sacrifice to me." But that wasn't what I was asking.

"I know that, Ayato. But why me? You could easily go for Nanami's blood, she wouldn't put up a fight and she'd do exactly as you say, but here you are with me, the most  stubborn bitch on this planet. Why bother?" This is what was bugging me, did earlier mean something to him or was he just playing with me like I was just a toy.

I think I finally broke him. He looked like his brain was working over time. His grip loosened as he tried to come up with an answer. "Because its fun to chase you for a bit, until eventually I get what I want. You hardly thought I had feelings for you, did you?" Deep down a piece of me broke, "You mean nothing to me, Tatsu. You are my prey, nothing else."

My disappointment quickly switched to anger. I punched him full force in the face. It barely effected him but it surprised me that he let me do it anyways. He didn't put up a fight as I walked away, a pit in my stomach.

Did I seriously think he'd felt something? They're heartless, soulless vampires who see us as nothing more then play things.

My instinct was automatically to go to Nanami. I'm not sure why but I felt the need for comfort and Nanami was a good person for that kind of thing.

Her door creaked open and I was confused to see an empty, dark room staring back at me. "Nanami?" I called just to be sure but no answer.

"She's gone." I heard the voice of Subaru behind me.

Gone? Where is there for her even to go? It's not like we can leave here. "Gone where?" I didn't bother facing him, I just stared at Nanami's empty room.

"I told her to run. She'll be far from here by now, maybe even at the village, if she hasn't gotten herself eaten." She left..?

I was in complete shock. I never would have thought Nanami to be the type to abandon me. She always seemed so obsessed with how I was, yet she just leaves me here, to rot.

I felt the walls around my heart harden. I was stupid to bring her with me, I should have left her in that hell of a place with our parents.

Growing an attachment to people never helped anything. She dragged me down and managed to damage me so easily. Maybe I was the naïve one, not her.

I dragged myself to my room, not glancing back at Subaru. My new plan was to sleep, forever and ever, never opening myself up to anyone ever again.

Hours of sleeping

I woke up to Laito telling me to get up since it was time for school. Of course I don't go to school but I do have chores. I immediately got out of bed and, despite not wanting to form any relationship with anyone, I still needed comfort so I hugged Laito who in return made a flirty comment which i blocked out. After a few seconds i let go and went to the main room.

Ayato was sitting on the couch and noticed immediately when i came in. I knew he was there but I didnt look at him.

"Tatsu, Ayato, I expect your chores to be done by the time we're back." Reiji said in his monotone voice as always. Ugh... this is going to be torture avoiding Ayato all day.

Everyone left to go to school leaving Ayato and I... alone.

3rd person

The Sakamaki brothers road in the limo, as per usual of every school morning. They all sensed something wasn't right about this drive, the driver especially. That's when suddenly the limo went off track, tumbling and crashing into a tree before exploding in a ball of flames.

The brothers floated safely to the ground, they had jumped out as soon as they felt something was about to happen. They watched the limo burning until they noticed they were being watched.

Up on the cliff stood the Mukamis', staring down at them, Nanami tightly in Yuma's grasp. They saw her try scream but a hand was quickly clamped over her mouth.

That was it, the Mukami's have declared war on the Sakamaki's.

"What are you doing holding whats ours?!" Laito growled.

"If she was truly yours she wouldnt have wandered straight into our arms!" Ruki growls back.

Nanami was visibly frightened but none of them noticed, they were too caught up in giving death glares to each other.

"Subaru I thought you said you were checking on her last night? Why didnt you report that she was missing?" Reiji said very calmly but with a slight curious tone to his voice.

"I thought I saw her sleeping." Subaru lied, not convincing Reiji but he didn't press further.

The Mukami's disapeared from the cliffside, today was not their day to fight, and the Sakamaki's returned home. Too far from the school to walk.
