Prologue
What started as a road trip and camping turns out to be the even that changes a small girl's life forever.
Lying on the ground, the wolf looked up to the dark sky begging the moon to shine it's radiance on it. It's dark blue fur camouflaged by the huge trees surrounding the serene lake infront of it and it's eyes shone brightly in the night as it pierce through the darkness of the woods. It started to scan its surroundings when a certain sweet smell reaches its nose. Curious and guarded, the wolf stood up proudly and menacingly and got into its attacking stance in the direction of the new scent. He picked up small footsteps coming towards his lake and he immediately let out a loud howl, attempting to scare the intruder away, however, the noise grew louder and hurried and the wolf knew he had no choice but to meet him and fight...
Emily staggered deep into the forest where she and her parents camped. It has been such a long time since she moved away so she decided to visit thelakeone more time before her parents decide to go back home. Her small stature made her invisible to the eyes of any predator lurking in the forest. Her pink boots stomping on the muddy ground as it had rained earlier that evening. her small hand pushing away the branches that act as though its attempting to hurt her. As she came closer to the lake, she heard a loud howl in the direction she was heading and being the curious child as she was, she ran faster towards it hoping to catch whatever was there before it disappeared. As she got closer to the pond, her mischiviousA huge space of night sky came into her view as she prepared herself to step out into the open...
Aidan could see a small figure hovering at the edge of the woods, as though deciding whether to approach or not. One at a time, he saw the figure'ssmall feet stepping into the clearing where he stood. Her pink boots now brown and dirty covered with mud from the forest was first into the clearing and her small hands pushing the branch beside her away as she struggle to fit her body through. Aidan wanted to warn her of a small hole infront of her when her other foot came out, step into the hole causing her to stumble into the clearing.
Aidan examined her with huge interest; her small body covered with thick clothing was now dirtied with mud and twigs from the forest. Her arms now bend at a weird angle was red with tiny scratches that he suspected was also the results of being in the forest. Her black hair covered her face as she laid on her stomach on the ground. The small girl lifted her head and looked at Aidan mesmerized by a huge thing infront of her. Aidan couldn't take his eyes off her. Her green eyes shimmered in the darkness as she continued to stare at him.
Emily brought her hand to her side and pushes herself up, keeping her eyes on the huge figure all the time. It was a wolf.
Emily brushed her clothes with her hands and caught hold of the twigs and yanked them out. The wolf stayed at the same spot watching her with interest. Trying to show the wolf that she was not afraid, Emily started to take small steps towards the wolf wary of the danger it is if it decided that she was a threat. Emily stood near the wolf and raise her palm high, hoping that the wolf would warm up to her first.
Aidan looked at her with her hand up high as though volunteering for something so seeing that as an invitation he took steps towards her and lick her small palm of dirt. The girl smiled and slowly reached to touch his fur. She caressed his fur so lightly and gently that Aidan seem to melt the surroundings away and he continued to nuzzle her neck for more of her scent. Unknowingly, He bared his teeth and lunged for her neck.
Aidan was still oblivious of what he has done and continued to close his eyes to revel in the sensation that he was feeling. The hands that rubbed his fur stop and still, the small body stood rigid to the ground not even breathing. Confused, Aidan opened his eyes startled back as he snap his jaw close after releasing the girl's neck. Quickly, he licked the bitten area to hasten the process of healing.
Emily screamed as she felt a burning sensation in her neck. She crouched down holding her neck as she cried and wailed due to the pain now searing throughout her body.
'Emily! Where are you?' she heard her mom shouting from behind her.
'Mom..' Emily sobbed as the pain stopped. She looked up and saw the wolf watching her as it moves away to disappear from her sight.
'Emily dear, what happen? What's wrong? What happen to your neck? 'her mom dashed through the thick forest and hug her instantly. Her mom brushed her small hand away and looks at the mess of blood now dried at the base of her neck. Her father came right after her mom and cautiously looks around the area to spot any danger lurking around, not knowing that the wolf was just infront of him.
'Rose, come on. Let's get to the hospital and check the bite. Come on, Emily. Let daddy carry you okay?' her dad craddled her and engulf him in his warmth. After a while, Emily stopped crying and her eyes slowly close as she was pulled into her dream
'Emily, huh?' Aidan thought as he saw her got carried by her parents.
