Yuno was practicing doing push ups in the forest for no one to see. So far he was able to complete three in total. Today was the day. He would finally attend the Magic Knights Entrance Exam and become a Magic Knight.
Now done with his routine of Chores and mental and physical exercise he made his way back to the church, a little bit of light and happiness and colour had returned to the church and everyones eyes, Yuno had also used his grimoire again being able to master four spells in a span of five days. Now he was ready to take the magic knights entrance exam.
Before he was off towards the royal capital everyone in the church threw a popotato party in celebration of Yuno and his four leaf grimoire. Yuno enjoyed the party everyone threw together promising them all he would work hard to become a magic knight and then become the wizard king and bring fairness to everybody.
Right now, he was making his way over to the sycamore tree, being stopped by Sister Lily who came out with a fresh bouquet of flowers "here" she said handing him the bouquet, Yuno didn't need to guess who they were for. "I want you tell him everything you ever wanted to tell him. You won't see him for a while" she suggested shaking her head before heading back inside.
Yuno made his way towards the sycamore tree, each step he took felt more heavy than the last, he gripped the bouquet making a few petals fall off, his four leaf grimoire felt heavy in the pouch attached to his hip. He finally stopped at the tombstone setting down the flowers before kneeling down two eye level.
"I don't suppose you want to give me any words of encouragement?"
Only silence was met with Yuno's words
"I guess not" he sighed
As usual Yuno told his rival everything he did, he perfected his wind magic and worked on his physical strength. After he was done with his short story, he took a moment to gather his thoughts
"Tell him everything you ever wanted to tell him"
he took a deep breath.
"the truth is Asta. I don't know how to do this without you. I don't know what to do. But you were always there, you supported everyone and helped everyone get through those harsh years when there was very little to eat, you helped me get my pendant back, you helped me to inspire and be brave, you were always running towards an obstacle that seemed even I couldn't conquer, and yet you did it without using any magic, you are the true pride of Hage Village. Im. Nothing. Im just the boy who couldn't anything to help when a drunk man beat up my brother, Im just the kid who didn't do anything to stop a manic kill my brother, Im just a coward who doesn't deserve this grimoire or even this magic, its more like a curse than a gift, It... it should've been me Asta... ME. NOT you"
Now with all that cleared out of his head he still had one obstacle he needed to clear, so he took another deep shaking breath
"Asta do you know what day it is today?"
He reached out and brushed the tombstones rough stone, his eyes becoming puffy and watered, Yuno was pretty sure it wasn't allergy season.
"Asta... It's your birthday- remember. when you were here and we used to run around as children and... your birthday wish was to ask Sister Lily to marry you... Asta... Don't you remember?"
he was now crying, streaks of tears leaked down his eyes and he gritted his teeth in grief, damn he must look stupid in front of his brother right now, Yuno wiped his eyes with his arms, he smiled sadly before fist pumping the grave stone shaking with sadness and determination
"I want you to watch me, wherever you are. Watch me become a magic knight, and maybe- NO. And watch me become the Wizard King so I can make everyones lives fair and equal, just like you were.
he stood up before making his way back to the church to get ready for his journey to the capital, he almost tripped on something and looked down to see the five leaf grimoire again, this time he picked it up, sighed and put it in his spare satchel attached to his belt before making his way back to the church taking one last look at his best friend's grave before continuing on.
Time Skip: 3 hours later
The sun was beginning to set over the demons skeleton, Yuno was ready to leave for the royal capital, everyone was outside to cheer for him as he waved goodbye, Sister Lily then came forward to give Yuno a big hug before telling him to close his eyes, Yuno did so and he felt something wrap around his wrist. When Yuno opened his eyes and looked down he found what seemed to be a black sash attached to his wrist, upon further inspection he saw a red four pointed star with stitches etched into it, and then he realised.
He looked up at Sister Lily who smiled sadly with tears gathering in her eyes.
"I think Asta would've liked you to wear it, and he would be proud too. Don't let him down Yuno"
Wearing the headband, Yuno felt like an imposter, that's because he was. But he stood fast and nodded his head firmly before giving Sister a look of determination "I promise" before he made his way to the only future he had left, running with a new dream that shined upon the darkness of the world.

Im still waiting for you guys to decide whether to let Yuno fight with the same guy from the anime or someone else, I recommend going with Noelle, but I would like to hear your thoughts on it, the next chapter will be Yuno arriving in the Royal Capital and doing the broom challenge, anyway SEE YOU IN THE NEXT CHAPTER!
